HELLO fellow tinters. The name is Doug, but everyone calls me hatta. I'm a computer gamer, tinter, vinyl artist, car enthusiast. I have owned 4 cars a 88 civic hatch, 90 camry, 91 metro (4 door 3 cylinder. Called it the beast) and 95 Toyota Celica liftback. I'm currently looking into getting a new car as I'm tired of driving the Celica.

If I can do something and have nothing left to learn in it I'm bored and lose interest really fast. I took an online "bar" exam when I was 19 and passed, so being a lawyer soon lost my interest. I've been in business management since I was 21, started at a Spencer gifts. Left there for more hours and better pay at a small family owned store. I was there for years until I was in able to get to work anymore, due to the beast dying. I was out of work for a year. Then started working at a car wash. Soon after I got interested in vinyl wrap. After a while I was asked if I'd like to stop the wash and become full-time tinting and vinyl. It's a no brainer heck yeah. I also dip cars at a local shop when the need arises.

I don't want to be working for someone else for ever and really want to own my own shop. Also I'm interested in doing water transfer graphics (hydro-dip)

So if you were out of work for a year because of car problems, how did you get back to work without a car. Why did it take a year?  Why couldn't you fix the problem without waiting a year to go back to work? Were you drawing unemployment?

 

I'm not really trying to bust your chops. Everybody has a story.

I've just seen so many absolute losers tell about how they were out of work because...... fill in the blank. :bs

 

I don't think I could ever just sit without working, regardless whether or not I'm getting checks from somebody.

I applied all around just couldn't get work. Was on unemployment for 6 months. (used savings the rest) the wash called and I walked until I got the money for a new car. (savings covered rent, but not much else.) the engine went in the car and I gave the car to the shop as payment for looking at it. Figured if they agreed is less money coming out. The whole situation sucked. I made it out though.

      Residential Film without blue hue?

      Take a look at 3M's Nightvision or LLumar's Dual Reflective series, they both have a warm tone to them.

      Steer clear of Black Armour, Suntek, ASWF. The others are good choices if you are in Australia. Check out the reviews of the installer too. It’s not just the materials that have to be proper. Never go for the cheapest!!!

      Residential Film without blue hue?

      Hey guys I am in the process of having window film installed in my home but have a question about which brand I should go with. Hoping yall can help me out. I have a room that faces a busy street and as a result my blinds pretty much always stay closed. I love having natural daylight but not so much people being able to see what i'm doing in my room/all my expensive equipment. I used to work in the window film industry as a helper/installer/salesman when I was in highschool and we did a lot residential/commercial work. The specific brand of film we used always left a certain blue and cool appearance. Is there any brand of residential film that does not have this effect? I mainly just cannot stand having blue light amplified and am looking for a film that has a neutral shade to it or even a warm/yellow hue. I have single pane windows and I do not necessarily care about heat rejection but if I have to pay more for a ceramic film rather than a dual reflective or a standard film I am willing to if that helps solve the issue. Again, any help is really appreciated with this there are so many new window film brands out there and it really is cool to see how far the industry has come.

      Automotive Tint Comparison

      LLumar, 3M and Solargard have in the industry as far back as the genesis of window film mid-1960's). Solargard is the younger of the three and all others came to play in the last 20 or so years. I've had all three on my vehicles over the years and my current is 3M Crystalline on my Jeep since 2015. It still has stable color, scratch coat is holding strong and impeccable adhesive clarity. Never been garaged. My choice toady would be 3M or LLumar.

      Hook up with Glassy Business and get all the ins and outs of pro vs DIY with window film. That company goes back way before my retirement in 2015. I want to believe they are/were a Vista Film dealer and I cannot remember the owner's name. Peace out.

      Once more thank you, you are the best I been looking at the specs for the products you mention and info into tinting a window. I recently did wrap my wife's car and it turn out really nice, for what I have been seeing tinting a window is similar and I am tempted to do it myself. With that said I can't find any place to buy the products you mention, I found quite a few films in Amazon but they seem sketchy. There is other web sites selling films but the ones you mention I can’t locate, anyhow is there any place where I can buy this products?
