How the internet Broke...

Recommended Posts

So many people had problems reaching different websites yesterday...

Basically, there was a limit to how many routes older hardware could have... getting from place A to B.

This was known about back in the SPRING, yet nothing was done... or at least not enough since people had problems.

Here is a story on exactly what happened, in case anyone is interested.

Yesterday, 12 August, 2014, the internet hit an arbitrary limit of more than 512,000 routes. This 512K route limit is something we have known about for some time. The fix for Cisco devices – and possibly others – is fairly straightforward. Internet service providers and businesses around the world chose not to address this issue in advance, as a result causing major outages around the world.
