It seems the post has gone in a different direction. Do our films heat rejection #s drop on 70% glass?

So a films 57% tser is on clear glass

Would 70% vlt glass with same film be 57%tser ?

Automotive films testing is done on clear 1/8" glass

We don't have clear glass on cars anymore

In simple terms, if a 35% vlt film has a 50% TSER value, It makes no difference what glass it is applied to. It will reduce 50% of the net energy being transmitted, not the gross.

When we as a shop get performance numbers for our film,,,,,,

Is TSER a film on glass number ?? Or is it the performance of the just the film?

Thanks

Film on glass always. When tested, transmission, front and back reflection are measured and plays a role in determining; 1) Tsea, Tser and Tset.  Film alone can be tested but rarely done except at times in research and other isolated confirmation needs.

More often than not, the numbers you see are based onfilmspplied to 1/8" clear single pane glass. Some mfrs will also supply other tested types. But will typically use the numbers that make the film look the best .. I.E. 1/8" clear.
