I hate it happened to you, especially a brand new 911.  Anytime anyone cuts on a car there's a chance.  Just like everything, some are much better trimming/cutting PPF than others.

 

What's most interesting about this post to me is what in the world do you do for a living to score a 2017 911 at 23?

They start at $89,000 for a base trim 911 so not super expensive for a Porsche.  To put it in perspective a new Corvette Z06 is $80,000.

That's still a lot of $ for your average 23 year old.  I've never had a car worth that much.  I've had 3 porsches, but they were the desirable air cooled versions lol!!.  Wish I still had..

I was told that even with patterns some on the car trimming would need to be done. The cut in the paint happened when they extended the edges to wrap edge of bumpr

Well they lied to you we have never cut on the car in 14 years with most software now you can set to wrap edges.

A good installer doesn't need to do this and even where hand cutting may be needed you can do it off the car before going near paint.

Even if they really had no choice you can slip something behind the film to protect the paint.
