Torching backglass

Have seen it mentioned a few times. How many of you guys torch backglass with horrible matrix at the top instead of gluing or using Dotrix? If this is a good method and works consistently I’d like to give it a try. Also blue bottle, yellow bottle, and what tip would you suggest? Thanks!

I think that can help a little bit...

 

Its cold here in KY so the torch can crack cold glass so we just use heat gun lol 

 

What is dotrix? and where do you get it?

Dotrix is basically black vinyl people use to put over matrix. Looks good just an extra process and purchase but I’d say worth it. 

 

Just wasnt sure when people torch if that was it or if they still had to do something else like glue as well. Cause then why bother IMO

Dotrix works great...I prefer Laminex but either will do for me. Torching (what I doo to shrink) does nothing on the frit (matrix) of some models...Honda accord and civic 2 door in particular as well as others, you will still have a silver look from the outside. Problem is all adhesives are not the same with many mannys. 

Sika is how I eliminate the problem all together.

The only advantage I see in using a torch is shrinking windows faster I have dotrix in stock but prefer glue

I sand down the matrix as much as possible with 3m pro grade 320 grit...same stuff I use to sand down my tools
