Here is a song I like to hear when the week is done and I know I am going out on the boat. Some of ya'll yankees should even like it.
Definitely have to have the video with that one!!!!
Country is really the only music I don't like much. But I have to admit this video makes me want to go out and have some fun.

I am sorry if this was already mentioned, but why not just pull the back glass out and tint it and rope it back in? It would be clean with no light gaps. I find it's faster to do then dicking around with it sucking water up in the edges, and cleaning forever. It's just a gasket set window isn't it or am I missing something?

I would also just use the hard hard card with no paper towel. It will slide on the film liner much smoother, and lessen the risk of running over the film and creasing it.

Bringing this thread back from the dead.I had another bubble back Capri come in to do. I'm pretty selective on cars I do. I tell my guy's "don't take in anything older then 2000 with out checking with me firs"t. haha. But I am a fox body mustang guy so I feel obligated to do them from our local mustang club. Not sure what the deal was with this one. The one I did in the first post was 1 piece 40" role. This one the 40" was a hair to small to cover the glass. So I 2 pieced it. Still turned out great. It has been a lot of years since I have done a 2 piece. I guess it pays off sometimes to have been tinting for so long. Get to pull out the old bag of trick once in a while.

I think what you are trying to get at is what you should be paid based on the time it takes for you to complete a job. I have always paid my guys a flat rate. They get paid a flat amount per job. Some take longer than others, and some are quick. They get paid the same. It works out in the end , and all have been happy. Now if a job is a huge pain and takes a lot more time I will change the pay accordingly. I install every day also, so I have a good hand on what it takes to do the job.

So Speed what patterns would these be?

Tango may I ask where you are located? Are you the shop owner or an installer or both?
-
I agree with supreme. I always under promise and over deliver to my customers.Perfection is in the eye of the beholder. PPF film in itself is not perfect, so tell me how you can get a perfect install.
Tango tell me how your installs are all 100% perfect when at an angle I can see a grain to the any film in the right light. When I lift the hood the film does not lay perfect over the pinch weld/seem sealer under the hood lip when wrapped. How come the film has a seem in the bumper around a certain fog light. Sounds extreme , but these are all things I have been questioned on from customers. It comes from the customer being uneducated, and not knowing what to expect from an install. Supreme did the right thing in letting the OP know what to expect. From your profile it looks like you have 5 years under your belt. That's great you strive to do your best, but I have triple that in years of experience, and have yet to see a 100% perfect install. Offering to have people come to you to see one is just being cocky. Because you know its not going to happen.
To the OP the best thing for you to do is to go see installs done from a few different places. Not so much to see who is best, but to learn/see what to expect from a PPF install in general. Lastly inspect them like you would your own car. I have people come look at cars we have completed, and just glance at them, and say looks great. But then eye f&*& the install on their personal car. At the end of the day with a good install PPF is a great product to keep you car free from 99% of chips and looking fresh for years.

This is pretty similar to the way I go about it. The way you pre cut it is important. i use soap or dryer sheet.

Nice heads up. Thanks
-
That means clean your bottles out often, and empty them, and let them dry out each night so you don't get the chunks.

Thanks for clarifying that Ryker. I switched from QDP to just stocking the HP and QDP Ceramic for the better heat rejections.. I assumed it was from the same family but realized I never asked to be sure.
-
Stan when you say QDP is the top line would you include the HP in that line?

When ever I see an Aero coupe I cringe. I also have never had to try one. Nice kill.
Tintdude you would be surprised what a good condition Aero coupe SS will go for.

Dang! Must have been a lot of strips.

This is a 1984 Capri bubble back glass. I only did it cause he is from our local mustang club. I have to admit, I wasn't sure if I could get it in one piece. Its QDP 5%. I did a lot of shrinking to the side. I got 2 light half inch creases, one on each side that heated out pretty well. I thought I was pretty cool for the day.
