  1. Honestly, I don't know much about Johnson films. CTX like most dyed ceramic films will absorb the heat, this is 99% of the market. The reason I bring it up is Stratos has a higher absorption rate since it has 2 layers of ceramic. So it depends on the vehicle being in motion for the air to push the heat away. In reality that is not a big deal unless you are sitting in stop-and-go traffic over an extended period of time.
  2. CTX is our top seller and the performance is good, but not amazing...the current CTX (CTXI) is the 1st generation Pinnacle. Even with that one we never have anyone come back to complain, they usually tell us how much they love it.
  3. As they said, the heat lamp with an IR bulb will show what the films can do with blocking Infrared but the real world will be different. Stratos will still be a huge step up since it is a double-layered Ceramic film...Pinnacle plus a layer of AIR. The downside is both Pinnacle and AIR are high heat absorbing films, especially if combined. So when parked or sitting at a light, you will feel more radiating heat than films like Crystalline that redirect the heat.
  4. Llumar films are always lighter out of the box than the shade listed. For example, 35 out of the box will be closer to 39 for Llumar films. We also carry 3M which tends to hit dead on the shade listed on the box. 3M CS 20 can easily hit 13 once applied on the glass...Crystalline roughly the same. So we always have to take that into consideration when selling the films. 35% is our legal option (GA can hit as low as 29 to be legal), but I have seen 3M CS 35 hit as low as 28 on certain vehicles.
  5. I would also look at XPEL especially if you want something that is high-IR like Stratos.
  6. True, we just did a bunch this week at a huge home. Not fun at all.
  7. I just had a customer that added on a last-minute sunstrip which I hate offering. Even though we went up on pricing on sunstrips, I think they are such a waste of time. I really wished we just stopped offering them but makes no sense to tell a customer no, we don't do those...it would just sound stupid.
  8. Sharing just because of the blue...VW GTI in Llumar CTX including Windshield
  9. Yeah, we see them on cars a lot which is no big deal since they are tinting the whole thing but it seems like this design is on the rise for SUVs.
  10. We are a little low on 2 fronts to help fill in gaps in the schedule so doing 50% extra on the quarters...full vehicles we don't charge extra. Lately, we have been getting a lot of them with the front quarters...just did two 2019 RAV4's today with them.
  11. Got a question. When you're doing 2 front doors only, how much extra do you charge to do the 2 front quarter windows? We originally were just throwing on $20 bucks to the total. Now we are charging 50% of what our 2 front window price...so say $150 if the 2 doors only are $100. Don't have to give dollar amounts, just looking for a percentage.
  12. This may work... https://www.amazon.com/Pllieay-Adhesive-Polyester-Furniture-Surfaces/dp/B07CPN1WRS/ref=sr_1_5?crid=36AMP853VWV76&keywords=automotive+felt+tape&qid=1570828105&sprefix=automotive+felt%2Caps%2C140&sr=8-5
  13. I did a quick search and I wouldn't go to the Llumar shop anyways because their reviews are horrible. The Johnson shop is much much higher rated...installation quality and overall service is more important.
  14. Congrats, always fun moving into a new location and see it grow.
  15. Huper has higher-end technology so that one is more innovative. However, between the two options, I would do the XPEL if it was my vehicle.
  16. Check out Midtown Motor Trends, one of the top 3M shops in the US.
  17. I wouldn't have ASWF in the mix, but the other 3 will depend on the quality of the shop. Priority is going to be on the installation side of things, with the film itself being a close 2nd. If you want the longest-lasting film in Florida, I would go with 3M Color Stable which is a Carbon window film. It will outlast the entire Llumar/Suntek lineup, especially in that state. The only downside to 3M Color Stable is it does have some Low Angle Haze. This happens when the sun is at a low angle (morning and evening), it can hit your windows just right and it will have a cloudy appearance. All window films along with stock glass have this, but 3M Color Stable is a touch more than normal. Suntek, in general, is the worst for Low Angle Haze. As far as scratching goes, Suntek tends to also be the worst.
  18. Yep, when it is going too good, you're just waiting for it.
  19. That is how our PPF/Vinyl is going, no time for it. We've been turning away an average of 20 people a week on window tint. I've been looking to add additional tinters or ppf/vinyl installers but everyone we test can't meet our quality requirements.
  20. Haven't seen the HD's, that is a 1500 above...I am not a truck guy but always been on the Ford side of things. I think the Raptor is the only truck I could actually see owning.
