  1. Yeah, I check it every few days and still is there. Based on their info it ended on the 1st at 5 pm.
  2. It does, I have seen people on the FB groups complain about it. I honestly can't remember any specifics but do remember coming across that a couple of times. I think that we have had moments where it is our way or we talk crap to the person. Like someone coming in asking about 5% or 20% on the windshield. Just about everyone responding would hammer them about it being stupid and illegal. In the end, it is their vehicle, their money, and they are going to do it anyways. As long as one person states it is illegal and considered unsafe, the rest should skip over it. I like IG better for reaching since you can better target your audience. Plus nobody has to sign up...for the people that are not members of IG, they can still look at the page...click hashtags, etc.
  3. I agree 100%, TD.com is much more than a FB group. What it offers and what the private FB groups offer is completely different which is a good thing. However, I think having an FB page (not private group) would be good to draw more tinters and consumers to TD.com. The traffic here like on a lot of forums has dropped dramatically and IMO will keep dropping. I have personally seen a huge automotive forum based here in Atlanta go from having a general section with 200+ current topics in 1 day to now having 1 gag post every 3-6 months. I could be completely wrong, but I don't see the TD forum lasting the next 5 years. So it needs a new way to attract people to the forum, a new way to reach people. Even better than Facebook, I think Instagram would be the best route to do this. Thanks to hashtags being widely used there (not so much on FB), you can target your audience to window tint topics/subjects. What would an IG account look like for TD? I think we should use it to promote the members of TD that want to promote their work or shop. So members would post their tint photos on the forum, then we could add those photos to IG which would benefit the tinter/shop since it could bring them business. No tint discussions would happen on IG, no tips shared...nothing. IG would simply use the photos of the submitted work to attract attention. That attention would then be directed to TD.com along with the tinter's shop IF they want that. If they don't want to promote the shop or disclose where they tint, it could link back to their post here on TD...or, not at all. I think forget Facebook and do an Instagram account. If needed, I could help run it if members would get on board with submitting work. Lastly, I think the homepage of the forum needs a redesign when it comes to the sub-forums. IMO it is very confusing and could scare potential people off. For example, consumers are posting in the General section a lot because the consumer section is at the bottom...they most likely didn't even see it. I was born right at the beginning of the Millenial generation, so I have one foot into that generation while the other is in the previous one. So I respect how many people look at social media, but at the same time it is the greatest tool to reach people. The world has changed and will continue to change. You have to be involved with that change or be okay with seeing something you built possibly dying off. This is just my opinion, please don't ban me. 🤐
  4. It says it will be on their website and magazine by December 1st. I really want to see if 10 days was enough.
  5. What do you tell Tesla Model 3 customers before taking the job? Like warning them about the possibilities of breakage after they leave due to a design flaw.
  6. Correct, it is a step below Crystalline. It roughly on the same level as Llumar IRX, FormulaOne Pinnacle, and other Ceramic IR films.
  7. Check out this video on dry shrinking, this is roughly our method.
  8. I think you will be fine with Pinnacle since it is a Ceramic IR window film. Our summers are much hotter than that and our #1 selling film is CTX which doesn't block as much heat as Pinnacle...never once had a complaint, people love it. If choosing between the $1k films, they are all great choices and will really come down to what look you want. Stratos has a normal charcoal color like Pinnacle, Huper Ceramic will silverish look, and Crystalline will have a brownish hue. The performance of each of those is close with Crystalline edging out the other two IMO since it redirects the heat away versus absorbing the heat. I would normally say visit the shops to see which you feel more comfortable with and possibly see vehicles completed but the distance makes that a little harder. Installation is key no matter the window film you pick. Also, if the Huper shop is an Autobahn dealer, they should also carry Autobahn i3 which is a higher-performing Ceramic film that would be less than $1k. As for Yelp reviews, anything 4 and up is extremely good for Yelp. The highest-rated shop in my state on Yelp with a perfect 5-star rating got there by giving discounts out to reviewers. They will have them post the review before they even pull the vehicle in to tint. Anyone that has a Chick-fil-A in their state knows they set the bar for customer service that is super fast. However, most of them around me have a 3-4 star rating on Yelp.
  9. Not sure about X100, but we add rubbing alcohol to the mix which allows you to position it but dries quicker for a better stick.
  10. Yes, the Model 3 has a flawed design in the rear glass where it can crack anytime...doesn't need to be tinted, it can happen randomly. Applying heat to it raises the risk of it cracking, so we will be doing all that on our glass instead of the customers. Plenty of shops do it on the vehicle, but shops that do tons of them have broken the rear glass before.
  11. Yeah Core, it looks very cool and useful. I am glad they are stepping up their pattern game too.
  12. I don't have any photos on a car yet, but the color looks good. It is a very thick film, roughly the same as Crystalline. However, it shrinks out like a regular dyed film...easier than Color Stable. Below is the 35% shrunk on back glass.
  13. Finally got the rear window, it is $475 from Tesla. We went to their location and was able to buy it there.
  14. Is the film lighter than listed online? The specs you linked shows it is 86% out of the box.
  15. Obsidian and Color Stable are both 1-ply films that are 2-2.5mil thick which is why they shrink different than a traditional 2-ply film like FX PM. I am not sure about Ceramic IR, but will find out Friday and will post here. I'm just hoping the color looks closer to regular films...I didn't like the color of Obsidian.
  16. Good luck with finding that info out. However, I can assure you that the film is not a rebox of another film, it is a one-off film made for 3M...even their entry-level Obsidian is a one-off film. Not to mention it has been in the works and testing for over 3 years...no point in testing an already existing product for that long. Also, compared to other big manufacturer ceramic films, it is actually one of the cheapest priced.
  17. Yeah, let us know. I'm glad they owned up to it and going the extra mile to right the wrong. It sucks it happened in the first place, but we all make mistakes. It is all about how we handle it afterwards.
  18. Anytime you have someone do a warranty on service, most likely they are going to complain behind the scenes. Especially in window tint since so many installers are commission based, so in this case, he might not be compensated for his time. With that being said, it should have never left the shop looking like that so should be zero complaints.
  19. The scratch looks to be either on the film itself or on the inside of the glass. I am going to guess it is on the film itself because if that scratched continued into the defroster lines inside the glass, there is a good chance the defroster line would be missing some of the orange stripes. See if you can run your fingernail across the film and feel the scratch. Either way, it would need to be redone or just removed/refunded if that is an option.
  20. It's horrible, needs to be redone. Dust spots are minor and are hard to find, these are acceptable since we do not work in an air controlled environment. What you have is pieces of dirt or larger particles which is why you're getting those white circles...the particle is pushing the film up away from the glass. I see a lot of mobile tint jobs that look like this since they're tinting out in the open most of the time.
  21. Yes, we would be tinting the whole thing. We have tinted several of them for friends, so we're used to them now. I want to avoid shrinking on the customer's glass since they are a cracking hazard even without the extra heat being applied.
  22. I have the full breakdown of the specs per shades now, they just haven't loaded it on the website yet. It is pretty much on par with Llumar IRX as far as the performance numbers.
  23. In the description is up to 66% TSER and 95% IR...not link to individual shade breakdown yet. The price is killer!
  24. It is finally released...should be able to purchase today for all dealers. It is on the website too with up to 66% TSER and 95% IR. https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-3m-products/~/All-3M-Products/?N=5002385+3289647603&preselect=3292823412+3294857497&rt=rud
