Same situation with that BMW here downunder.

The top part of the rubber insert has felt but the bottom doesn't and therefore will scratch.

Leave them alone as there are plenty of non grief cars out there to tint without the hassle.

On my '09 sedan I just ripped off the lower sweep. The upper is still in place with it's felt, so I don't see the harm. After a year never noticed any adverse side effects.

How hard is it to get the door panels off? I have a possible job to do and the owner already knows there is an issue with the scratching. Any help would be appreciated
