Premiumshield

Recommended Posts

I have installed premium shield on several cars and am very please with the film. From what we have heard is that its produced by the old ventureshield team before 3M took over.

As for quality its a mix between Venture and Xpel. It stretches like Venture but has a little less orange peel like xpel. The only negative is it seems to have a less glossy top coat than xpel and venture which can be seen on black cars.

You have to use Elite for black car in order to look glossy.

Not sure why anyone would produce a film that isn't very glossy. Waste of time and money... plus it would look bad on the company. haven't seen any pics of the film installed on a black car on their website... which is the ultimate test. Close up pics would be great. Also the link provided above doenst work and the video of the self healing cuts out half way through. Issues that need to be resolved BEFORE promoting a product.

No problem. Check out this link on youtube.

, It's actually hosted on our website versus a private video link. As far as clarifying how glossy it is, it depends on when you look at the film. Right after it has been installed it is hazy. There is no denying that. It only means that there is moisture that needs to cure out which usually evaporates within a few hours. Typically most installers in our industry recommend a couple days for their customer to not wash or wax the film to allow the adhesive to cure. Leave it out in the sun or heat and the moisture evaporates faster. But when looking at the finish product after the cure time, it has great clarity.

Of course a heat gun will burn the film if you hold it too close for more than a few seconds. But if you hold the heat gun further back, you'll be all set. All your trying to do is heat the surface which is the catalyst of urethane's healing properties. That's why i just stick with the hot water if I show someone. But not everyone has access to hot water for demonstration purposes. So you use what you have. :D
