Goes back in just as easy. I start with the trim around the quarter glass, then pull the bolsters, then the deck and reverse the order when done. Only four # 20 torx head fasteners that hold the front of the deck down require a tool. Be careful as the (German's cant make plastic to save their azz) that you don't strip out the torx heads. You'll kick yourself if you do. All else is easy release clips.

 

I'm not a panel puller but this is so easy that it's worth the little effort it takes to remove over the fight to push the water out behind the deck when still in place.

 I have done a couple already and it sounds like the 60 seconds to remove the rear deck is still quicker than the time it takes to squeegee the water out of the bottom of the back glass. I am going to try that next time.

I didn't remove the rear deck... that's what they make the bulldozer for!  hahah Does it really pull out in 60 sec??

Pull that stupid rear deck. It probably takes two minutes max after you figure it out. The dumb retainer screws take the longest.  Horrible design by VW again
