Not sure what's causing this

Recommended Posts

Hey guys.

Any idea what could be causing the distortion in the film?

No shrinking needed for this one.

Film has an aggressive adhesive.

Wondering if it's tacking and smudging sort of thing whilst puting in position?

Lanolin? Have you tried washing out your bottles/hose?

I do wash my bottles out regularly.

You'd think it would be everywhere though if that was the case?

Did that show up just after you installed it or did the customer bring it back ....... ?

I went over the whole car like a picky customer would after install.

I didn't notice it and I really look.

Custy sent me the pick and coming in late this afternoon.

Hi, our friends here offered some good explanations.

Such phenomenon is less obvious before the film is cured.

I would like to offer one more explanation:

Question: do you recall if you heat shrink on that part of the window?

1. If yes and the same phenomenon did not appear on other window after tinting, the adhesive distortion might be caused by heat shrinking.

2. If no and the same phenomenon appears on other glass tinted from the same roll, it is just one of those rare ocassional manufacturing defect. (adhesive distortion in small portions within a roll)

No shrinking at all.

Yes it's happend on other occasions.

Not this big though.

Would the agressive adhesive do this as you're moving the film around?

Yes sir, such issues are usually on small scale. Don't be too bothered by it.

UNLESS UNLESS UNLESS the custy wound down the side windows within a few hours after leaving your workshop and attempted to squeegee the tint back using his credit card (the location of the adhesive distortion was suspicious).

So you see, just too many possibilities.

Merry Christmas and don't be too bothered by it.
