Can i get away with using a 24" plotter cutting ppf  for doing bumpers and 1/4 hoods? also how are the patterns on llumar precisioncut ? I use them for window tint .

You are going to find plenty of bumpers over 24" out there which will limit you. Never used precisioncut but DAP from XPEL is known to have some of the best patterns out there.

30% to 40% of the 2015 bumper kits in our system are on 30" film.  While it is theoretically possible to create 24" patterns for some of these bumpers, you'll find that the pattern manipulation and seaming needed to do this creates a much more difficult/lengthy installation.

Go with a 30" plotter if you'll primarily be doing standard coverage ppf.  42" if you will also be doing tint.  64" if you will be doing many full front ppf installs (while most full hoods can be bulked pretty easily, there are some out there with air intakes and/or difficult to remove emblems that will give you fits without a kit).

In all honesty I started with a 48" plotter as at the time that was the widest film I knew about and didn't have one regret. I think if you start with a 24" plotter you are limiting your business before you start. As Jeff says a lot of bumpers have been 'made' to fit on 24" much to the detriment of the pattern. I have redrawn a few bumpers that were a real pain in 24" film and have been made so much easier to fit using wider stock. I now run a 60" plotter and firmly believe that anyone who is serious about fitting kits as opposed bulk installing needs at least a 48" plotter.
