If you can invest that much in equipment and materials. If suggest take a bit of the company profits from the successful parts business and invest it in correct training.

For the sake of a couple thousand $. (I know it's a lot) it's well worth it!.

This training will give you the foundation to become a very reputable tint company. And the money you spend on training will soon be made back.

Most reputable manufacturers will have some training available.

Maybe you could consider bringing in someone with strong skills to work temporarily with your main person to build up their skills and confidence. :thumb

Most all "training " videos on Ytube are heavily edited to show off more than teach. Not everyone can learn from visual training but some can if they can see the whole job being done and have problems encountered explained.

You can follow the links on my TD signature to my Ytube channel to watch my teaser clips to see what all we teach (not show) in the full length hour long DVDs.

This can be a very frustrating skill to develop and some people need more to learn than video so I developed my hands on course 15 plus years ago to reduce the frustration encountered when learning. Frustration is a killer of ambition!

No one can teach a person to become a fighter pilot in tinting with a weeks training. My week long course teaches ( not show) students how to fly the plane and over a shorter time than some think possible I help them become fighter pilots of tinting!

I think you put the cart before the horse.

You should have made sure you had an employee trained before investing in a plotter and inventory.

It seems that you have taken the same approach as the customers who come in after they saw vids online thought tinting seemed easy and bought a kit only to realize the difficulty of the trade and the skill required .

It is possible to learn from watching vids but it takes longer than being taught.

Being taught allows for someone to teach you what you are doing wrong which doesn't happen with learning from online vids.

I am a self-taught tinter and I can say without a doubt that I could have gotten better quicker an become faster sooner if I had been taught by some one.

I also held off on buying a plotter until I had the volume to justify using a plotter.

I would suggest sending someone to a school (not yourself since it seems like your time is needed elsewhere in your business). choose some one who will have the time to teach others and the person you feel will be the fastest learner.

Have your employees tint their own cars and the cars of their family and friends to get practice.

I took the tint of my car installed it again took it off installed it again. I repeated this process a few times then moved to friends and fam.

I like the suggestion Clear Solutions gave.

You can definitely tern your tint biz in to something profitable but it this point you should probably use the option that will get you up and running quicker. - Being taught

Thank you Howard for sharing your experience with my former students. I work hard to instill a good attitude in students that works to help them become some of the best. Some in the business just don't have that good attitude and hold themselves back as a result.
