If you have PayPal you can easily request a 20 dollar non refundable deposit. Most of the time that will weed out the ones that aren't serious.

Yea I been thinking about it for about a week now I just had felt like it would discourage potential customers

I personally do not take deposits but I don't get a ton of cancellations either. When I'm on the phone I make sure to tell them I'll put them on the schedule. Also if it's a Facebook friend I set an event reminder, if it's a phone number I set a text message to be sent the night before reminding them. I still get a cancellation from time to time but they are getting less and less.

Do you confirm appointments the day before?? Thats what I do and if people sound like theyre going to keep shopping around or theyre azzholes i schedule them further out and never give then a weekend appoinment.

Always confirm a day before and they always say yea I'm still coming then the day of they cancel

I've thought about 50 or 75 down like half the job...if they are serious they will do it....no matter what

I give the customer the benefit of the doubt for the first time. We all have had to cancel things because something comes up right? But when they book the second time, I explain the need for a 50% non-refundable down payment to hold their appointment. People tend to understand and don't miss their seccond appointment....
