Window Tint + PPF?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

We are getting into PPF in September and was wondering if it is worth adding to our existing tint business.

What I mean is, can it potentially take over for tint and be more or just as profitable?

I really hope it is because the winter months are coming  fast here in northern Cali and we are hoping to offset the loss of tint customers with PPF customers.

Also is there anything else anyone recommends to add to a tint shop that can help create another revenue stream? We are really trying to stay automotive so no FG on the horizon...yet

Just stressing about the coming winter lol.

If you doing cheap film ...yes it is correct... if you doing high end film...you are incorrect.:..We charge 1k plus for a car with crystalline...material cost is $210 plus  $110 labot and done in 1-2 hrs...

Does the 1K plus for Crystalline include the windshield?

PPF is generally more profitable than tint, but it is a more difficult product to learn and takes a longer time to get off the ground (most consumers don't even know it exists).

PPF is a good add on to a tint business, but if you're struggling in keeping the shop full with your tint business, chances are that you'll have just as hard of a time with PPF.

make sure that youve thoroughly analyzed the reasons that tint is not busier for you in the winter and that there isn't something that you can do to fix the root cause.

After reading the last few posts, its clear that "new to the industry'' PPF installers do understand profit margins relating to TINT & PPF. The fact is the days are over when PPF full clips were 2.5K for 5/6 hours (including surface correction) of quality labor, its time to  "keep it real".  PPF service is not exclusive anymore in 2017. With the expanded [growth /demand/ import films/ mobile installers] of the service and its new price points, its fair to say that even the high end is working at 50% less profit margins that 8 years ago to maintain competitive edge. Any mid level Tint Shop selling Nano ceramic & IR installs can pull more impressive dollar margins faster. Todays social media has grown awareness to NANO TECH films and the same for  PPF even Color change

thanks for making this a short thread, it takes years to build a strong high end tint client base. but the CR tech film does help speed the process. keep in mind if all the TESLA owners knew how much the CR was your selling all the other dealers will have to lower the prices by 50%. they read Tintdude. lol

The days of $2.5k full fronts are hardly over.  They are only beginning.  The busiest ppf shops in most markets are the highest price ones.

With a quality product, install, and customer experience in tint or ppf, you can make solid margins.  It just takes a long term commitment to solid work to build that demand and value (not unlike what the snippet from Lorenzotint said).

We'd be happy to help you get set up on a ppf program, but if your tint business is not where you want it there's a way to fix it!
