The interesting thing about most metal is that it's more similar to classical in structure and musicianship than most other forms of popular music. If you're ever feeling adventurous check out Apocalyptica, particularly their album "Reflections" They are a Finnish Cello quartet that bridges the divide a little bit without being extreme. Metallica also recorded a live album with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra that is really good and one that I've found people who don't normally enjoy heavy music often like.
