Curved Residential Window.

Recommended Posts

I went to go measure out some residential  windows today, most of the windows are self explainatory except they had 4 curved windows. My question is will I have any problems with installation with it being curved. I wouldn’t think I need to shrink since it’s only curved 1 direction. My concern is I dont want it to bubble where the curve is and end up being a nightmare. Does anyone have any experience with these. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Film that will be used is 5% ceramic dual reflective from Global

Those are fun. lol

I would install the film with curve the same way the curl is coming off the roll. I'd also use something like X100 to help speed up the film tacting to the glass.

Other then that - it's pretty much just like normal.

I would do those first... and just keep an eye on them as you do the rest of the windows. Go back and push down and finger that might pop up... and once you are done everything, just double check them. Doing them first gives you plenty of time for them to start drying by the time you are finished everything else.

I have done a couple of these years ago.  Film will go, might have some compound curve to them and need a little heat to form but not much.  I would bet that there is seal failure on some if not most of these unless it is a very new structure.  Be sure that you get that information otherwise they could come after you saying that you caused the seal failure!
