did landscaping for 13 years. owned a company for 7 years. loved it at first and then started to hate it. my best friend and co worker moved away to look after an exotic car rental place.
turns out it was a tint shop.
they trained him up and after 8 months he let me crash on his couch for 6 months and trained me on tinting. i wish i could have picked up this skill 10 years ago when i was younger. 
 
him gettting me "in" has changed my life. now im learning to wrap cars and soon ill be getting into ppf. i work at a stlying center so the moon is the limit to what i can learn. i mean i just picked up headlight restoration. i really like doing  it aswell for the  before and after and the customers are always extremely stoked.

when new cars come in with purple tint i just say probably came from florida and tinted with gilla

at our shop everything has a warranty unless you have us tint over pre-existing film. 
we track the warranty by date of install. on receipt and what kind of film was used.
standard= 1 year warranty
premium= 3 year warranty
supreme= lifetime warranty
ultimate= lifetime warranty
ultimateXP= lifetime warranty
 
we also have an extended warranty you can add on for broken windows.
if you dont have a receipt then you better pray i remember you.

i pour some 91% alcohol in my bottle and shake and spray it out. just a few ounces and a few times and rinse it out. works pretty good

never had any good luck with out using straight ammonia let it soak 3 soakings and then clean off. and if that doesnt work try 91 percent rubbing alcohol just be careful with it.
if a steamer doesnt work then black bag it with windex

it took me a whole year to get comfortable doing a whole car sunroof and windscreen. still cant do a beetle or c6 vette.
i also work at a shop that does at least 4 cars a day. so i would say for you to just pay attention and try to do as many strip and retints as possible and if you are using a plotter  learn to hand cut it will make you closer to your work. if you mess up a window with a plotter you can just reprint. if you hand cut and mess up youll pay more attention.
 
also r&r your own vehicle and try out different shades. even  if its illegal.

For me, good music sure makes the day go by quicker.
