Jkatfelix reacted to flat rock stan in Safest Method
I'm old school and just bag using my regular slip solution. Ammonia is prolly safe but I'm afraid I would have a customer say they are alergic to it and want a new car.

I would try tinting over what is left there and let it fully cure. Try pulling it off and if that doesn't cut it get a brick.

Customers used to bring me beer and donuts. They'd come back with like 3 more cars. (First job tinting) now they bring lunch or breakfast for 8-10 people. Twice in 2 months now. Cool people exist neither drove Bmw's though just saying.

Did a 2000 4runner today! Hatch was one bolt under the strap. The bg needed no shrinking versus the newer i dry shrink bottom, wet shrink top. Damn door panels had those pins that audi or vw has where you have to push in the center pin to remove. 3 bolts per panel to pull.

I always felt slightly insulted when people asked me to 'hook them up', as if I was asking too much for my work. Plus if I'm working for someone, I want them to be successful and my success will follow. Not be looking for any opportunity to take from my boss or do work that would otherwise go through the store.

You can't take that seal out. One bolt and the whole panel is off.

Business is business...needs to stay separated from personal work. Even though you are doing it as side work and for someone you know, the impression still might be it is being done by the shop. So if there is ever a warranty issue and you have moved out of town, that shop might be getting a bad review or complaint because that person thinks they are responsible for it. Not so much to do with you, just a stupid decision by the business owner. As far as side work being worth it to you, only you can answer that.

family and friends should be understanding of your job. The asshat customer you speak of I don't allow employees to offer the same service in my garage which I operate my business. It's a conflict of interest.
