Save yourself some greif, time and money and just let a pro do it. It's not really a DIY type of thing, but if you really want to try it, check out these pages for some basics about tinting...

those are nice vans...dont make it look bad by installing strips of film on the back glass.  just have a pro do it and keep it nice looking.  :beer

Buy a heat gun and tackle it.

First you'll need some tint. Better get a nice big roll. You can get them for about $100 on ebay.

Then a heat gun. Don't go cheap because you need some good heat. Spend about $55.

Next you'll need a good knife and stainless steel blades (or you'll scratch the crap out of the glass). Expect to pay about $6 + $10 (blades).

Also get various squeeges and hard cards. About $20

Don't forget a good squirt bottle and some baby shampoo. $6 + $3

You'll also need an extension cord. $9

Paper towels, razor blade to clean the glass, 5 gallon bucket to wash your hands: $8

Make sure you throw all your tools into a box and save them because the cheap ebay tint will be purple by spring time. So you'll have to redo it.

Oh wait....that's $218.
