I have always used distilled. You can buy it from this vending like machine at our local drugstore. You pay 25cents per gallon. All you do is place your container under the valve inside and deposit your coinage. Otherwise it is like 79cents a gallon in the stores.

I use tap for cleaning and distilled for install. And yes distilled uses less soap to make a slip solution but thats becasue hard water breaks the soap apart easier than distilled. Its like taking a shower with a water softner on the cold water side, it take you longer to get the soap off your body b/c the minerals are taken out. I look at the distilled for install as I would rather spend 69 cents a gallon and trust it than take the chance of something being in the water and I have to re-do a window. Just my opinion

for window tinting we do probably 20% of our total shop work, so it wouldn't be a big deal to use distilled profit wise. What about solutions like X100? Do they work better with distilled?
