Got a call very late yesterday from Joe at Johnson Window Films. He said to call him back because "there is legislation pending in Washington that will impact the window film industry."

Anyone know anything about this??

I haven't called him back yet as they are 3 hours behind us on the eastern time zone, but if this is on cars we could all be in deep trouble.

I heard something about requiring every car to have some type of "energy Saving" window film applied to the glass to reduce air conditioning use, therefore reducing gas consumption...Anyone from Cal. hear anything??? Heard its allready in legislation there. THINK POSITIVE!!!

more importantly....glass manufacturers are trying to push that window film does not meet the requirements necessary to be an energy saving product. glass manufacturers are looking to bury window film use.

Well, they did it to us last year, and they will do it again this year.

All someone needs to do is have a presentation with a wow box with different types of glass and ig units, and films on each to show how bad ass film is for glass. Id be willing to be people would save more with film in most cases, rather than replacing their windows (depending on how bad of shape they are in).

Here is the email I got today from Johnson Films...

OUR INDUSTRY NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Dear Window Film Industry Professional,

Everyone knows about the massive spending efforts that are coming out of Washington. One of the current hot topics is climate control and energy usage reduction. We need your help to convince Senators and Congressmen that our industry is worthy to be included in the upcoming "Energy Legislation" that both houses of congress will be considering. The IWFA and Johnson Window Films are asking for your help in this effort.

Unfortunately the benefits of window film are not understood very well by our representatives in Washington DC. They also do not understand how many people are employed by our by all of us or how window film is an incredible energy control product that greatly reduces electricity usage. In an effort to make sure these representatives are made aware of the facts regarding the industry, the IWFA has launched a grass roots efforts to inform them that 1. Window film employs many people in this country. 2. Window film is an inexpensive and fast retrofit that can reduce energy usage. 3. Our industry is worth of being included in the various spending programs which are to be considered by Congress in the coming months.

The best way to be sure our points are heard by the members of Congress are for all of us to send messages to them. If our message is received in a consistent manner from thousands of constituents we believe that they will take notice of the very obvious facts regarding window film. To ensure the message that is received is consistent the IWFA has put together samples of what to say in either phone calls, letters or emails. A consistent message is important to make sure congressmen and staffers alike remember our main points. To this end, you will find sample letters or scripts (if you prefer phone calls) that will be sent to everyone in the industry for use during your contacts with our representatives.

Attached are 3 documents regarding this effort. First is the IWFA's call to action which gives a good overview of the effort. Second is a sample letter/email to send to your representative. 3rd is a sample phone script if a phone call is your preferred method of communication. Please take the time to do this. It directly affects your business and the industry as a whole. Competitors to window film such as the glass industry are lobbying against us because any business we get is business they don't get. That is why this effort is so important. The best chance we have to be taken seriously is to prove to our government that there are thousands of small businesses in our industry that need the government's support and that by supporting our industry, they can promote smart reductions in energy usage.

Everyone in the industry thanks you for your efforts.

Best Regards,

Scott Davidson

President

Johnson Window Films, Inc.
