You are giving a lot of pointers without knowing where he is from...

I do...is it wrong? I use Joy or Dawn dish/hand soap.

I could careless where he's from,,, just trying to help another fellow tinter, I'll help anyone for that matter if I can! ... maybe I am giving alot of pointers and maybe I shouldn't do that but I remember when I first started, every tinter I asked for help was a total jerk to me and I just refuse to walk the same path!

#1 reason I don't use a dish soap is because they contain detergents and can be harmful to adhesive systems

I care where someone is from. I wouldnt want someone helping a noob that lived in my area, thats why I like to know where they are from.

Ive never had an issue with using dish soap as a slip. Maybe its just the film I use, but Ive never had an adhesive failure.

I'm sorry you feel that way toward another peer, especially a noob in this line of work, but thats cool,, I don't blame you for that at all I used to be there as well!

I think the industry could thrive alot better/bigger if we helped one another a little more with tips and advice..

as for you using a dish detergent for your slip solution thats all up to you! I've been to CP films,Sungard, and Ageis facilities and seen chemical testing done in house that have shown proof that harsh detergents and certian chemicals will break down the adhesive system over time and sometimes very quickly. ,,, it will blow your mind to actually see it in person.

I understand what your saying tint junkie but think about it this way not trying to be a smart ass if you a good tinter you will always have repeat there ar to many horror storys of beginers starting out I know a lot of people who pay that extra money and will know that there car will be done right. THey don't wanna go to someone who is starting out b/c they don't have the reputation of a well established tinting business. Word of mouth goes a long way I beleive. I'm not here to drive peopel in my area under because I know that will never happend. I'm looking at some global window tint Im thinking about buying it, what would be a good quality to start out with to have around I'm thinking of 2 rolls, One a 40x100 One a 40x100 20 pecent and one 35? The 20'' roll what are those good to use on? Do certain vehicles like windows do they fit good.

Thanks Justin

Happy Easter

Im sorry im stupid what does PPF something ply film? ahh on a lighter note

So I found a small peice of film that I had laying around so I decided to strip the old tint off the window and decided to redo it. Except this time I told myself either ill have a window with no tint or ill be able to tint a window the first time without taking the door panel off, Well I was looking threw my tint tools which is limited to what you guys use I had a couple hard cards, so I said hell I got to looking from a fiberglass speaker box install I done a while back I found a pack of bondo cards I found one that fit in the seal good, I used it and took my time started at top got down to the bottom took the film liner off sprayed took my time and pushed it in place with hard card which I held the gasket back with bondo card and just scooted it over as I slid it down, I was amazed that I done it. I ordered a lil chizler and that conqueior or however you spell it maybe tho with be better,

darkness- harsh detergents are bad for films, which is why you don't use the "extra degreasing power" or "hand softening" dish soaps. You just use plain, lemon scented joy. Just about the most basic dish soap you can buy. Many tinters on here have been using it for tens of years with zero issues related directly to the soap.

I don't remove door panel on cars at all,, some find it easier to do so, you'll just have to find the way the works best for you. and yeah your right local shops/tinters don't like to really share there secrets and methods of installing film and for the most of it I can't much blame them for that.. but I'm over that part myself,, I like to help other tinters that are willing to learn something new or a different way to install the film... I learn something new all the time with the way these new cars are being built

personally I use a carpet shield, it allows me to slide the film down under the seal preventing a bottom peel up and most of all a light gap at the seal.!

I have a strip and retint coming up in a few days and the problem is the last tinter cut the film at the seal before installation OR he didn't get the film below the seal to begin with, I'll be postiong those pics up for sure!

I'd say getting hooked up with global will help you in the begining,, No I don't use that film but I have installed a few cars with it and didn't really see any problems,, I'm waiting to see how long it will last down here in Fl,, I stay in touch with most of my customers periodically just to ensure they stay happy with my products and service,,

Carpet Shield??? I'm interested in this, can you explain a little further?

Thanks

he means a painting carpet shield. its like a thin bent piece of plastic. Looks just like a gasket wizard only made out of flexible plastic and costs a few dollars
