Sound Barrier Film ?

Recommended Posts

I have installed thousands of square feet of 8 mil. Every time I notice the rooms are quieter

Do you think the 8M absorbs the sound wave

Not as well as PPF.

Maybe the PPF is softer and that may help reduce vibration

Interesting......think it would absorb more vibration if it was on the outside surface? :chin

magnetite does better than anything, especially noticeable with single pane.

Yeah, they're attaching acrylic with magnets to create the dual-pane effect of reducing noise. Laminated glass will reduce noise as well; this is one reason car makers are attracted to lami glass.

Thicker safety films or PPF would have some reduction value based on the two methods mentioned above.

I, too, would think PPF works better mounted exterior. However, but the best film option would be a 10-mil signals defenses film; it acts as the same plastic barrier as Tinitman has mentioned and is capable of neutralizing the sound waves such as those from your voice so they do not vibrate the spider-webbed dead fly wings on the exterior of the window. The intellegence community can capture and revert these (wing) vibrations back to actual vocal sounds.

Meaning I would only install a film on the inside rather than hanging way up in the air on the outside of an apartment building like a monkey on scaffold :lol
