1 series BMW with metalized film

Does anyone know if a metalized film will interfere with any antennas on these cars ? The film I would be installing would be Formula One Comfort series . Thanks for the help .

Not sure about that specific film but metalized/HP films have bit be in the azz before on all the other BMW's I have done 3,5, and 7 series.

I'm sure others will chime in soon.

Ot seems there was a discussion on this some time back, I am not certain, but belive

that it could intefere with radio, especially if the antenna was in the back

window with the defroster.

Hopefully someone can pull u0 that old thread.....

If the 1 series is like most of the other current models with the antenna in the defroster line then you will lose am and probably have really bad fm at best. Some say the TPS gets affected but I hear mixed reports on that. :twocents

Just do sides in Comfort and put a piece of pinnacle on rear.

Does that really work? What about TPS monitors are they still affected?

TPS monitors would be working at a radio frequency...not sure the frequency and don't really matter. Radio waves are going to operate via line of sight and or reflected signal. The line of sight would take it right through the body or floor of the vehicle allowing that the receiver is the computer and antenna is in the dash of the vehicle. For the signal to pass through the glass it would have to be some reflected signal from surrounding surfaces and those would have to be higher than the glass with the surface angled to make the reflection pass down into the computer.... so the windows of the car would be one of the last possible lines of signal for a TPS monitor to ever come through.

This is based on knowledge of electronics and radio communications from my college days. Someone please correct me if that is wrong.
