Other carbon fiber than 3M 1080?

I have a friend whose son has an older truck with the hood in pretty bad shape paint wise.  He asked me to wrap it in carbon fiber.  I have only used 1080 and I like it but I was looking for a cheaper way out on this one because he doesn't have much to spend and it is not going on a nice car really.  Anyone recommend a cheaper good looking brand.  I looked at Metro 4d hd line and it looks pretty good.  Also, on a hood with paint peeling, how bad will the vinyl look?  Never tried it this way before. thanks

Ive wrapped two of my cars with clear peeling. Just have to 600 grit wet sand it it 95% goes unnoticed.

Stay away from the ebay stuff. Seen people in person and on here have priblems with the ebay.

Hexis and Xpel make carbon fiber but I dont know about cheap?

We use Avery and over here it is cheaper and we find easier to work with,

 

We have done a number of 'cover ups'. You can always test the area with an offcut to show the customer what it will look like and let them make the call on whether they will be happy with it. Also test for adhesion.

 

It always tends to make the area look beter then it was but you will still be able to see lines

Ok so they sanded the hood down and I tried a sample piece on the hood. It covered pretty well but it was very difficult to lay I'm guessing because the sanded surface? I'm going to do this hood tomorrow. Is there anything I can do to get this to lay like it should on paint? It stuck and stuck hard

      Stratos 70 on windshield, what is this?

      Captain Obvious has two cents err senses to share: 1) The film should be removed and replaced, because it appears to have adhesive blemishes that shouldn't be there, and 2) The film should be reviewed/inspected once taken from the roll to avoid losing time and resources due to manufacturing issues. Little pieces not so much, but back glass and windscreen pieces ... definitely.

      I switched so long ago... first to KDS but they went away. NT are great though. I use a piece of white strapping material as a cutting buffer between the blade and glass. Some use a button but I didn't like the feel..

      Headlight Taillight Vinyl question... (Looking for CHROME)

      Stratos 70 on windshield, what is this?

      I can't win with getting tint decent on the windshield. I had 3M on my F150 done twice and still has major defects. Recently did Stratos twice on my F350 and I see this granular spotted, texture pattern on the tint. It's super obvious in the corner here but also right in my view when driving. It's honestly hard to point out and show someone but when your driving and stuff is moving behind the windshield, it becomes more obvious. The lighting also matters. The first time I did the windshield, I had a two foot line on the windshield. Thinking it was tint, they removed the tint and it was apparently a defect in the Ford windshield. An issue between the laminated glass layers caused this big defect. So they removed the tint, I had Ford replace the windshield on a 2024 F350 but when the tint shop removed the tint, they made a bunch of micro scratches in the front windshield, probably from scrapping the glue off. I told them but I didn't care since Ford was replacing the windshield anyways. So if basically I'm trying to figure out what this texture stuff is and if I should have them replace or remove it. Replacing it might just have different issues but also afraid they will scratch the windshield.

      Need some help

      Never overlook the condition of the floor. Back when I did install, I used to mist the floor between the vehicle and the peel board. This is done between misting the window and walking toward the peel board to mist the pattern liner, peel liner and spray adhesive for install. Tacks any dust for the duration of each pattern install, so repeat each time a pattern is going to be installed.
