How to be a film supplier?

Recommended Posts

First place I would look for an answer is mannies and converters who are open arms to deep enough pockets; some have minimum order of 50 -100K sq ft.

Here's a few to look up;

Manny

LLumar/Eastman

Global/Garware

Solar Gard/Saint Gobain

Lintec/Madico

Penske/Suntek

Converter

Maxpro

Aegis

ASWF

Johnson

Hey Smartie,

Thanks for the reply, just curious as to what are manny and converters? I am based in Australia by the way =]

Manny has capabilities beyond simply laminating and coating film components from other sources; dye process, metalizing, sputtering, silicone coat liner, slitting, rewind from master rolls to box, etc. Eastman and Garware are the only two vertically integrated to the point of controlling all aspects of window film production; though Eastman has the capability to produce polyester, they do not make it for window film.

Converters buy or possess yesterday's coat and laminate machines, where each process is done separately or today's tandem coater/laminator that is capable of putting together components purchased from mannies (dyed poly, metallized poly, ceramic coated poly, sputtered poly, silicone coated liner, etc) and ship out in box fashion to distributors or dealers.

Edit: Tandem coater/laminator does multiple processes in one pass; laminate, coat adhesive layers, coat scratch resistant coating, SRC color coating (?) and add liner in the end.

So, Eastman doesn't make poly for their own window films?  Does that make any sense?
