Shocking...

Recommended Posts

Thats cute. We had a horizontal roller laminator originally used for who knows what.

During testing and before all the mods were done to convert to running film it would load up a charge like a capacitor and as you reached up to climb on to load a new roll KAPOW you would see and FEEL an 18" bolt of lightning as the static went from the machine and through YOU  to the ground..

Glad that only happened twice . Static bar added and all was good.

I would've pulled it farther for a bigger spark, but was finishing a second roll and it was starting to hurt.

Good use of the twitchy face smiley!

And yes I know, tap it with a knife to kill the spark, but it was keeping me awake.

One of the fun ways to train a new guy about static and dust .....

Get him to stand on a ladder and hold the film up high with a slight lean back  ( just to be sure the film wont touch the floor *snicker*)

Pull the liner down and laugh your ass off when he gets zapped on the closest appendage to the film.

Yes I use practical object lessons when training. Have a look for my posts regarding cutting film on a vehicle and how to learn not to cut too deep.
