Rear Window Wipers - Proping them up. What do you use?

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to see or get some ideas from everyone on what you do to prop the back window wiper up to keep it out of the way when shriking or cutting. Sometimes taking them off is difficult or I don't want to take the chance of breaking something.

What do you guys use to keep it off the glass? I've tried hard cards, bone tools and nothing really seems to work well for me. Just looking for other suggestions to try.

I can generally use a old yellow turbo squeegee to help prop it up out of the way. If that doesn't work, you can always use a piece of string and tie it around the wiper and up to a hook mounted in the ceiling in your tint bay. Or just ask someone for an extra hand.

I've never tried a yellow turbo so thay might work since it's thicker. The string method is good when I'm at the shop but when I go to the dealer I don't think it will work since I'm in the service entrance. Thanks for the suggestions.

Rubber novelty high bouncy balls(you know the ones in the gumball machines at the store entrance).......  They come in different sizes and won't slip off.  I keep a small cache of them in my toolbox.  I always get a good laugh out of people when they see them, and I tell them they are tools not toys.  Tennis balls work well also but they smell if you get to close with the heat gun.  Also works really well for front windshield wipers if you are doing an entire windshield.
