Complete Hood Install Questions - w/ Xpel Ultimate

Recommended Posts

No Silverbullet, Wearthefoxhat is showing the difference between quality of pics. He's trying explain to CCPcoatings the reason for using a high quality pic to explain what you are looking at. I'm pretty sure he already knows whats wrong with the film issue displayed in his pic as I believe it looks like tint in his pic, not ppf. But I could be wrong.

We contacted CCP last week over the phone and worked this out.  He has a short term solution and also decided to come to a training class.  As Jaime recommended earlier, contacting your rep is always the best way to get a quick accurate solution (no matter who you buy from).  Their job exists to help installers succeed.

By the way, I was out helping a customer of ours co-sponsor goldRush Rally this week, you guys should check it out if it comes through your town.  Some pretty cool cars, and way out lifestyles!

Please take your time getting the pics in focus.

If you cannot get a focus on a blemish put a finger or a piece of 1" masking tape near the problem to help the camera and the viewer of the pic to get an idea of the size of the issue.

Focus example pics from a job where there was a surprise under the premask:

Here is the hood and the issue at hand.....Its about 2-3 inches long and approximately 3/8" - 1/2" from the edge.  The other specs are just dust that are getting picked up by the shot.  The plan was to lift it open from the side, apply alcohol  and try to lay it down.  Initially cold.  If that doesn't work, try some heat.

Definitely adhesive distortions from stretching the film over the ridge in the hood. The adhesive Xpel uses is very sensitive to that. The problem with lifting it up is you will then have a lift line that will be much more noticeable than the distortions you are currently seeing.
