I use A small piece of a plastic razor blade and put it at the tip of my olfa knife when I cut the back glass this will help from etching the glass

A Titan isn't a bad tool for the back glass. Blue shop towels to wraps around a white he'd card to get those edges dry when you have the film on.

White or blue non scratch scrubbing pads for cleaning the rear glass

The options are endless

What do you mean about small piece of plastic razor blade, as in getting a plastic blade and etching the glass to make a line?

Very easy, get your knife and a plastic razor blade.

Next cut off a small piece of the plastic razor blade.

Now, place the small piece on a table and take the point of your knife and stick it to the plastic razor blade

This is great for when you have to hand cut back glass and windshield strips.  This will allow you to make the cut and not run the risk of etching the glass.

I have to ask you, are those the Carbon Olfa blades or are they stainless?  If they are carbon you should not be using them to cut on auto glass at all!

I like the plastic piece under a knife even with stainless blades too.  I use a piece of white strapping material though.  It sticks to a slightly wet window when not being directly used and they are very plentiful from shipments.

I used to, as did a lot of "old timers" [emoji38] ,make their own tools, when the go doctor came out , I thought why didn't I think of that :blink ------ To me it is one of the greatest auto tools !!!!

Get some good tape for window frames, everyone has their favorites , I like the red stucco tape (home depot) once applied it has a slick surface and is fairly easy to remove. You will be getting alot more suggestion and from there find out what works best for you. Good Luck , :welcome to the Tint World via TINT DUDE :thumb

Another great tip [emoji111] thank you

And yea this forum is great.

Same as cutting the back glass. Put film on the outside, make sure it is even using the factory edge and cut. Also, you might want to consider getting some sort of led shop light so you can see easier where to cut. When cutting the back glass and windshield strip, turn off the garage lights and position the shop light towards the area to be cut.

But how do you get this cut straight, the red line in the picture, do you use some sort chalk string or just free cut it? attachicon.gif2015-08-01 21.49.52.jpg
This depends on exactly how curved the glass is. If it's not that bad, factory edge in the bottom, it's already add even as you can get. HOWEVER if it's something like jeep patriots.... Put the liner on the glass, shimmy it down until the windshield has film from one side to the other. Take your blade and use 1, or 2 breakaway tips out slip it between the glass and the body just like is the top edge on roll ups. The main thing is to keep your cut here as even as you can. Take the film flip it over and it should come out looking a lot straighter than super bowed.

If I make no sense to you lemme know I'll try to make a video of it.
