My friend asked me to do PPF on his 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500. It has a chrome bumper are your guys laying PPF on the bumper on these?

I want find this out so I can quote him accurately.

We do those all the time at my shop. They are difficult imo. I will take some pics of the one I'm doing tomorrow. Ppf on bumper, hood and fenders. Wrapping the grille and chrome on the mirrors with white vinyl to eliminate chrome.

What about it do you find difficult?

I also don't understand why you'd apply ppf to a chrome bumper. They are pretty tough. All of the ones I've done have been paint matched. Most of them were chrome and a body shop has painted to match, then they pay me to wrap them so they don't chip. Bal4, they probably aren't that difficult for someone experienced. I have very little experience with ppf and these bumpers really give me a hard time.

They aren't difficult. The main reason for not installing on chrome is the change in look. No matter how clear of a film you use, the chrome loses its shine. The chrome can be expensive to replace so I get why they would want it covered. But for the most part on chrome, consumers like it for the look and adding ppf to it dulls the look. It's just like not putting film on plastic mirrors that are unpainted. Putting film on it changes the look typically and if it's textured, it looks even works.

      South facing windows DR film

      Install went great. I went with NV-25, I am very happy. The room has been darkened significantly, from bright and hot to much more pleasant and enjoyable. Watching TV during the day is no longer blinding, when it is cloudy it is definitely a bit gloomy, I am glad I did not go with NV-15. I plan on getting more windows done in the future to help cut down on heat energy. Thanks for everyone's input!

      Stratos 70 on windshield, what is this?

      Captain Obvious has two cents err senses to share: 1) The film should be removed and replaced, because it appears to have adhesive blemishes that shouldn't be there, and 2) The film should be reviewed/inspected once taken from the roll to avoid losing time and resources due to manufacturing issues. Little pieces not so much, but back glass and windscreen pieces ... definitely.

      I switched so long ago... first to KDS but they went away. NT are great though. I use a piece of white strapping material as a cutting buffer between the blade and glass. Some use a button but I didn't like the feel..

      Stratos 70 on windshield, what is this?

      I can't win with getting tint decent on the windshield. I had 3M on my F150 done twice and still has major defects. Recently did Stratos twice on my F350 and I see this granular spotted, texture pattern on the tint. It's super obvious in the corner here but also right in my view when driving. It's honestly hard to point out and show someone but when your driving and stuff is moving behind the windshield, it becomes more obvious. The lighting also matters. The first time I did the windshield, I had a two foot line on the windshield. Thinking it was tint, they removed the tint and it was apparently a defect in the Ford windshield. An issue between the laminated glass layers caused this big defect. So they removed the tint, I had Ford replace the windshield on a 2024 F350 but when the tint shop removed the tint, they made a bunch of micro scratches in the front windshield, probably from scrapping the glue off. I told them but I didn't care since Ford was replacing the windshield anyways. So if basically I'm trying to figure out what this texture stuff is and if I should have them replace or remove it. Replacing it might just have different issues but also afraid they will scratch the windshield.
