OLFA

Recommended Posts

Yes... every now and then this is discussed both here and on other social media sites. Seems Olfa changed something along the way, even though they have, in the past at least, claimed they haven't changed anything. But too many people have noticed a difference in quality.

I think GTS or one of the other Aussies said they still have a 50 pack of Olfa blades with the Blue Label on it.  Those were the good blades.  They changed to black labeling awhile back.  Not sure if that's when they changed their metal in their blades or not.   But something is different for sure.  :mad

They may not have changed the metal, stainless steel but, they can change the cost or grade (or quality) of the stainless steel used and still be right in their 'canned' answer of 'not changed'.

I still have about 30 packs of blue label I'm working through ... I sub in a pack of NT stainless and new white label Olfa stainless now and again and really don't notice that much of a difference... I'm pretty religious about snapping every time the blade comes off the glass tho.

I'm pretty sure the quality of the stainless has gotten worse or less. Heck it might just be a good coating at this point. I know it didn't used to be as easy to do this. And if they were any kind if quality stainless, you shouldn't be able to pick up so many pieces with the same magnet(it's not a super strong one either). :twocents
