IMO flushing is better.  Over the last 2 years i experimented with flushing and not flushing for several months.  While i could get a clean install doing both, I feel that flushing takes care of those few specks that you might miss with out doing it.

Everyone's cleaning technique is different.

Mine has changed over the years.

Always try different things and find out what suits you best.

Ok, so everyone goes to the oval office for constimiplated issues.  laws of physics,  apply mass to other mass results of displacement.  by the time ya all smell it the damage is done.  then the loud hissing noise of a bottle of air freshner trying to cover up the noise hair curling aroma.  if sumtin goes in, well, sumtin must come out and the courtesy flush is a little late and only informing others in a public office that if they remain a vomit hurling recepticle may be required.

 

so in concept, if we spray the bowl before we sit down we can neutralize most of the demonic smells without overkill of freshner in the room. at least add more value to your courtsey  flush if last night was the beer brat, buffaloo wing nacho eating contest with a case of beer.
