Slime is Prime !
-
Btw,nice to meet you Wear The Fox Hat and thanks for bringing the slime down to me
-
I've only done 1 car with it and still want to play with the ratio a bit , but I'm thinking I'm liking the tint slime
The thing I noticed with it is I seem to get more solution out with it.
I also tried an experiment and deliberately made a small crease to work out with a chizzler and I didn't need to hear it up first because I got so much solution out. Might be a coincidence . Either way I'll have a better idea after a few more cars .( it was an 02 Jetta using ATR ch )

How long does a batch last if it sits around once made ? I ask this because now that it's the slower season here , I'll make up a batch for both shops but may not work at the one shop for a while .
Also, would one of those pump dispensers that you get for Dirt Off (the larger pump) or film on ( the smaller pump) work for dispensing the proper amount?
-
I just got some today from Wear the Fox Hat member who dropped by . I should be trying it right shortly
-
With Stan, that doesn't surprise me a bit
-
Anyone carrying it in Canada yet so I can try it?
-
OMG! Are you people serious??? An installer could make more money with one car a day at home than slaving for a low ball shop with no sales talent. You only get what you ask for!
This is very true. It was one of the reasons I got into the business for myself as a teenager. It payed WAY better than flipping burgers.
I got the same amount for a dodge caravan when they came out in 1984 as I do now , thanks to better techniques, can do them in half the time and a third of the grief so all is good

Ah gotta love the Bro-mance.
Bro-mance That's a good one

I think we're wired the same : beer

Too many posts to quote , so I'll just say I agree with all CTC's posts

Awesome , glad it helped you to make the decision. Allow for a bit of a learning curve. Good idea to get into it during the slow season

Or one of you guys could take me ice fishing and I could bring a box up!!! /hint /hint
Softwater fishing is my stronger suit but I just took up icefishing again since I was a kid so I have all new equipment and live in the walleye icefishing capital of the country . We have guides here that guarantee a good outing of fish. I was thinking of doing that this yr and learn lots from the pros .
Come on up!

I would love to try the Slime ! Will you be having any distributors in Canada? If not, will I have to pay through the nose in shipping from US?

All I know is I went from hating doing brows to now it feels like free money. No more lights to set up on the inside of the car, no step stools on rack side of the car, you don't have to even spray the outside or prep the outside of the windshield if you don't want too, just prep, luck and stick. I've come across the odd one that doesn't fit , when I do, I just fix it with the software provided or phone in the adjustment if its one that can be described

I would go looking for my own shop.
The only problem with this advice(which is advice I also use to give right away) is that it's the best move for some , but a death sentence for others . It really depends on the individual and all the skills they have to run every aspect of a business. I would say know yourself well enough before doing that. Are you good at sales, book keeping, afford the ups and downs of fluctuating months..many things I think employees, commission workers don't think of before it's too late . Know yourself. If your cut out for it , jump ship and fly on your own, if your comfortable with how things are and have been other than the financial, I would suggest adjusting the commission or overall price structure. I would not suggest keeping it the same and rewarding yourself by increasing volume and working harder but not smarter. The best to you in your decision.

The only ones I ever ran into issues with was the ones on a ford ranger , dayum I hated when my film slid when rolling the window back up
Using a plotter, this is no longer an issue , but before I did, unless it was the kind that just snapped out, I would never take them out, I'm not retaping any ones else aftermarket rain guard.

this is the biggest problem with all computer cutting softwares, theres ALWAYS going to be patterns that are short or to big. Sure you can fix it and save it to your liking for next time but you and your installers have to remember this or you'll end up cutting the wrong pattern again. Thats what I like about film designs if I tweak a patter email it to Brett its in my database a couple days later !!
Tint Pros doesn't matter which system, you'll have something you'll want to change. If your the only person using the system, it's easy because it's changed for you. If your at a tint company where multiple tinters use one program, you can save Different files such as "Joes tint patterns" and "Mary's tint patterns" .
On any tint programmers defense , the problem they face often is that different tinters tint different ways, some trim gaskets on 1/4 windows while others don't. Some tuck rubber while others remove panels. A good example would be Impalas , grand prix, saturns or old style Taurus - some remove the side moulding , some don't . They usually pattern cars based on not trimming or removing which makes sense. I just make the patterns a bit bigger and move on.
If something is way out of whack, just phone Tint Tek up, ask for Cindy or Paul , be descriptive in your change your concerned about, they will look into it : thumb

If something if way off your finding play with the nodes a bit, it's actually not too bad to change / modify the settings ( this is coming from someone that's NOT) computer savvy lol . This reminds me of a Tip I wanted to ad for TT users, I'll do it in a separate thread though

It would be helpful if any TT V10 users can list cars that need some modifications, ie just did a 2012 Ford focus that rear glass is .20 too short horizontal. This would be helpful to many as I hate shrinking and preping one to find out its too small
Whenever it's a small modification, just enlarge it by hitting an arrow up or arrow down 1 click, print it, if you like it, then save it .

I heard of a shop in MO that tinted darker. The customer hit someone and killed them. The shop got hit with a multi-million dollar lawsuit and is no longer in business! Civil liability is a real bear let alone the criminal side....
I would love to find a newspaper article of something like this to frame in my waiting room, it would save me the daily speech I have to give customers on what is a torturing boring subject on my end.
