  1. Let’s just go ahead with the rest of this.... I guess :sigh Cause I get it But let’s be real. We all do, have done, and will do hundreds of windows with door panels uncovered with no issues to the door panels. Even on the higher end stuff, you can still get away with not covering a door panel, dry it off after install, and there are zero issues. Been that way and will be that way for a long time. I still cover over certain panels, but not all the time. I’ll skip the price increase convo due to expenses on extras that are basically waste or a loss (disposable door panel covers).....,, anyway. This is about an obvious defect that can be a HUGE issue, even if you do cover every single door panel you touch (which I doubt). It only takes half a second with anything but water alone. Try to dry it off immediately and it doesn’t help. This is a big issue and should be a recall or at least a TSB so that it’s not unknown.
  2. Alert!! Warning!!! Hey, Look out!! The 2014-16 GMC Sierra door panels have defective vinyl dye. It seems to be the brown panels so far. If ANY chemicals (soap and water) ((TintSlime)) hits these door panels they are ruined. The more you try to clean it the worse it gets. Even covering the panels won't work. If ANY solution gets on them they stain and as you wipe them they start flaking like they have a wax on them or something, except the color comes with it. Needless to say, I won't be touching these anymore.
  3. Global QDP hasn't changed their formula in probably 50 years. It is still the same great film it always has been, and will stand right up there with Llumar and 3m. Which is why I install it every day and have no worries about any problems with my film. Go with the Global shop (in my opinion) not just because of the film, but because it should be a better experience than a chain store like TintWorld. You should get a more personal experience from a smaller shop with a quality installer or two rather than a chain with a bunch of guys with minimal experience putting plastic on windows all day. Just my
  4. Certified Pre-Owned places generally remove all aftermarket tint, especially if it might be illegal. Good chance this car was tinted before you and you are noticing the lines because you now have tint and it is easier to see the differences in the lines.
  5. @TomTint Tint is for looks, security, and comfort from the sun. isn’t the purpose of window tint, other than looks, is the way you feel on the other side of the glass ?? If ceramic makes you feel more comfortable, how does it not perform better ? I know you are smart, but I’m just trying to keep it more simple for the question at hand. .
  6. Super old thread but might need a new answer. The reason your windows are hotter to the touch is because the window tint is doing what it is supposed to do. Absorb and reflect heat. Before, heat passed through the glass and is dispersed on the other side. Now, with window tint doing its thang, the surface temperature of the glass goes up because the heat is coming back instead of passing through. Window tint always raises the surface temperature of the glass no matter what type of film it is. Ceramic films will naturally make the glass hotter than cheaper films because they perform better.
  7. The wings shouldn’t have much shrink to them, more stretch than shrink, if I remember correctly. Also remember that it will be bigger on the inside(by almost 1/4”) even if it fits perfectly on the outside.
  8. Don't worry, this is not gonna be near as hard as you think it is. Just lay it out and you will see. Good luck
  9. While it is possible that the plotter left those marks,,, it's sound more like tool marks from pushing water out during install. If you can feel them with your fingernail, then the film is scratched (from a squeegee or hard card or even the wrong paper towels). The shop should understand what happened and fix it and also they now are aware of possible tools that need attention.
  10. Good call. You are probably more correct than I am. I was reaching on that theory. If the third brake light is in the hatrack, then they should disconnect it and see if that helps. If not it's simply the reflection from the diffuser and they could just cover that with some black vinyl possibly??
  11. This is just a guess,,, there is nowhere near enough information for a real answer but I'm gonna throw this out there anyway. I deleted this earlier but I'm putting back because I think it might be a decent theory?? Because of the colors being seen here,,, Green film and red hue thru said green film,,,,, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that your customer might have a slight issue with color blindness. Most people don't see a red hue unless it is actually there. If this is the case your customer might not even realize they have this issue.
  12. Your title says it all. Yep, you are screwed. Defrosters are electric. They run current through those lines that you removed. The only way to fix it is to replace the glass with proper defroster lines still on the glass. Sorry, but it looks like you are scraping ice this winter.
  13. That is just water drying from where they were pushing water out. It will dry, just leave it alone. If it was trash it would be whiteish from the outside. I have to pre-warn my customers of this when they have a windshield done and leave with it immediately after I finish. It freaks them out sometimes because of the amount of these spots all over the windshield. I tell them what I just told you.
  14. @Sunbreakers You got any specs on this film ??
