If I remember correctly, the top of panel pops back just like the truck door on a Chevy. Then u can pull the seal out by the mirror and lay it off the outside of the door. This way you can get a good seal on the film, and torch it. Do the doors first, and let them sit while you finish the rest of the car. Then put seals back and it shouldn’t be a problem anymore.

That's a really tough question to answer. So many different variables you'll have to think of. First off you'll need to figure how much you're comfortable paying in rent. Then double that for first month and security. Then lights have to be turned on or switched over, which I just did and was 500. Then is the building turn key ready to go, probably not. Depending on if you want to do a waiting area and things of that sort, that's upwards of another 2k. Also you'll need things like peel boards, maybe peg board, odds and ends to get the shop just how you need it, also signs for the road. Now if you're starting from absolute scratch with no tools, film, or plotter, that's an easy 5k and probably on the low side. If I'm in your shoes I start building up my tool, and film supplies over the next year. If not that's going to really drain you right from the get go, especially a plotter. So add all that up I think we're upwards of 10k. I can speak from experience as I just moved from my home after three years of full time work into a shop. It has definitely been so far the best decision I could've made, but time will tell

Man I feel like you need to take a breath bro. First, ask yourself is this what you really want to do? Everyone always says do what you love. Or do what you love and you will never work a day in your life.

There is always going to be challenges when encountering new vehicles and if this is what you want to do you need to accept that and be ready to take it on and learn. Rome wasn't built in a day as they say so learning the techniques to tint all makes and models takes time. Take a breath and try to practice patience as patience is virtue my friend.

I took a factory ring training class myself. Some great advice a trainer gave me is "It doesn't matter if it's a Honda or a Lamborghini you are just putting film on glass". In other words dont let the fancy expensive brands intimidate you bro. You are tinting glass. Just tint the glass regardless of the vehicle and you will be good.

And as far as going in I would just go in and do the best you possibly can. Be the better person and blow their minds. After that you can get your check and roll out if you want. You dont want to ruin you reputation in the industry because it's always a much smaller world than you think.

2018 Camaro. My first one. Solar FX 35 ceramic front and Solar FX 20 back glass! Easy car but back glass sucks because there is so little room to work!

2017 Dodge Charger Daytona Package. Llumar Ceramic CTX 15% on front doors and rear glass. Llumar CTX 05% on rear doors. I don't know why. I tried doing the back glass the JH812 method by using a hard card and 2000 grit sandpaper on defroster lines along with Dirt off and a final wipe with alcohol. Ryker method for the shrink. Film laid down like a bumper sticker on a bumper..very nice results with no peanuts. Stuck harder than ever before. Thanks JH812 for the tip!!

My buddies has come up with a way too do these pretty easy... heat shrink to the windshield then install with the hatch open..... get the top set and tuck like the side windows... seems too work on the last two 4Runners.

Sounds like you are on the right track. I'm pretty new myself. I dont think it will take 6 months to start tinting cars for the public. I would start with family and friends cars. If you get proper training once you do about 15 or so you should feel comfortable. If you just try to wing it it will probably take 6 months from just trial and error. Pay for a quality training its definitely worth it. Sounds like you have a great vision and plan. Good luck to you and your son sir!
