  1. film can easily be removed, just loft the edge with a plastic scraper and pull it off. then scrub with a white scrub pad and some super stripper. it works quite well. its just slower then scraping with a razor. i work at a lexus dealer and we see these cars quite often.
  2. what do you charge and where do you sell it? also are most of your customers successful installing the film or do they end up coming back to you to have it done?
  3. do any of y'all sell precut patterns for ppf or tint? there seems to be a lot of diy people who want to do their own tint.
  4. lots of people are recommending reverse osmosis filtration. might be worth a try
  5. maybe make some flyers that you can post for free on notice boards and make business cards that you can pass out to your customers. i know next to nothing about advertising but im sure you can think of some low cost ways to get the word out
  6. this is excellent advice, i filmed myself when i used to replace windshields and it helped me get very efficient. also, slow down and don't run between steps. i find when i rush i make more mistakes and it always takes longer to redo the job then to do it right the first time.
  7. tint: peach hard card clear max in fusion handle ez reach ultra with Teflon slip tape on the perpendicular edges backglass tint: buldozer green tail fin ppf: pink clean
  8. if you're having trouble shaping these backglass's, ive found that the easiest way is to divide it into an H patern and pocket shrink it focusing on the left and right sides. the middle third needs almost no shrinking.
  9. i would think almost any film would slow down a smash and grab attempt but as far as stopping it from happening i don't know. maybe put film on both sides to hold the shattered window together more securely. are you planning on bullet proofing the rest of the body too? car doors aren't bullet proof. if you feel like you need that type of security there are companies that will retrofit vehicles for this purpose and it takes a lot more then window tint.
  10. were less then a mile away from another xpel dealer so i'm guessing you'll be fine
  11. shouldnt need any seams. if you go to a local shop they might sell you bulk tint. get more then you need because mistakes happen
  12. is it double pane glass or single pane? if its single pane you can use automotive films. not sure what regulations are for boats but you may get better thermal performance from a reflective residential film.
  13. i use an ez-reach and go gently with the back side. its slim enough to slip under but strong enough to pop it off
  14. there's no IR coating on the ux.
  15. you can remove tint and adhesive safely by using a plastic scraper and white scrub pad. it takes a little more time but its really not that bad. we do a couple per month.
  16. no ir coating on the RX, you're good to go.
  17. we settled on paying .6 hours per window for tint and 1.5 hours for hood and fender ppf. so they will make 4.5 hrs for tint and ppf on a lot car.
  18. i dont have a precise way to control the slip. if its slipping too much ill dilute my solution with water and if it's tacking ill add more soap. some people use reverse osmosis filtration and claim it helps with consistency. i havnt tried but it might be worth a shot if youre having issues.
  19. we have pretty good quality water here but i'm sure you're probably right. cant hurt to have cleaner water. maybe ill try a reverse osmosis filter if i see a good deal on one.
  20. i have a very fine mesh filter on my water supply, not sure how much it does but i haven't had any issues with contamination. we run the cars through the carwash to get the majority of the dirt of then clean with a clay pad.
  21. also my guys have all their patterns cut on a plotter so that saves them a substantial amount of time compared to how some shops operate
  22. our shop basses commission structure on flat rate not ratios so its important to understand what is common for a specific task.
  23. i see, our suv's come with privacy glass in the back so we only have to tint the front 2 windows. also 95% of our work is wholesale which is good cause we have a huge backlog so i don't see us running out of work ever. but the downside is we cant charge retail rates.
  24. $70 for just tint on a suv or ppf included? our labor bill for 2 window tint is $55, $129 for hood and fender ppf.
