Whoever has posted that other film cos are doing tint,

WHERES THE FUGGIN EVIDENCE ?

Defending Aegis by saying others are doing it without giving proof is just talkin schit from both sides of your mouth,

unless you have evidence, not heresay

The blue book/bidscope is in most major US cities, along with Mcgraw-Hill , Dodge construction reports , etc ,

The pics posted in the aegis thread over in the general area, shows 3 companies other than Aegis bidding on jobs.

No-one here uses construction leads in there town?

Why dont you call SGT Distributors. The Madico Dist on the east coast. Ask who owns them.....oh, yeah, Sonny Fischer, owner of Sonnys Window Tinting, the company that gets all of the Madico large jobs they quote. or contact CP Films, who just hired 3 reps for the New York / Northeast, 2 of which are for quoting, marketing and selling jobs directly to the end user?? Keep looking and you will find more.

It's all out there, but I dont see anyone looking for it, just runnin the same old blah blah blah

Then you haven't traversed through old threads around here. Remember the Kent Davies Thread? Yeah, the thread that pretty much started the SNAFU and PWTA... Or what about the thread that had the information regarding MAddy's direct program? How about the endless 3M threads most of which contain information about their business practices...? BSF direct to auto dealer? CP's national auto dealer program complete with rep and website? The link is around here somewhere... just use the search.

If you don't see anyone looking for it, then I don't know what to tell you... This isn't all about Aegis and Barry.

$63k is NOT that big a job...

We bid on that job, and they won it at $5psf for 8mil + wet glaze.

The other 3 companies involved in the bid were all pissed, and we tried to contest it since Aegis did not have a CA contractor's lic, but it didn't work.

I did find out however that either the owner or one of the other key people in Aegis is Robert Brookshire's brother.

Anyone who has done any sort of Gov't work should know who Robert is.

He has always been a stand up guy, but needless to say after this fiasco we stopped selling Madico.

Thank you for making MY point. THIS IS'NT ALL ABOUT AEGIS. This started again due to the consistant posting by Key that I called him on. As you have shown, they all are involved in one thing or another. I only called Key on it after watching repeated posts on the same thing, AEGIS and BARRY, no other company. That was all. However, when he left for whatever his reason was, many of you picked up his gauntlet and continued the attack. As far as I am concerned, I was vindicated when TD asked him to take his vendetta or whatever elsewhere. I was not asked this, nor was any posting I made considered a risk to MY livleyhood. I have enjoyed the lively banter, but feel this issue was put to bed long ago.

Yeah, it's not like you can report Aegis Applied Films to the CA Contractor's Board and actually get something done about it. So have you been hit up by Aegis to buy their film? :thumb Tax dollars should stay in state but nobody seems to care.

I am not advocating supplying tint shops with my products in an area and then competing/undercutting them for the same business. The price of one square foot of film is not the difference between getting work and not getting work.

Id do believe the above posters comments, directly contradict what was posted over in the general area FILM CO thread.

The intent of my original post, NO MATTER HOW CONTROVERSIAL, was to hilite the underhandedness of the industry

AS A WHOLE. NOT AS AN ATTACK ON AEGIS.

It might be in AEGIS best interest to rat out some other companies doing this , it might take the heat off of them.

AGAIN, askin a film co over the phone about there practices while strokin yur K0CK aint gonna cut it.

I never thought that I would read anything about Aegis or Advantage that would stir the pot as much as this thread!

Aegis has been around for a while and of course they compete with their dealers and did so as Comfort Vision. They undersold large commercial and government projects like Ft Bragg, etc and had so lowered the install price for security film it hardly made any sense to bid against them. Clearly having a lower price than their Madico friends during those years might have been an "advantage"?

For those who wish to buy their film, go ahead!

For those who make excuses for their manufacturer or distributor- -go ahead!

For those who understand that this practice it is ethically and legally problematic.

      Automotive Tint Comparison

      1) Why avoid Suntek? I thought they resolved that issued with the easy scratching and that they are one of the market leaders in Australia? Also, it seems most of the well established Tint businesses use Suntek 2) I've heard mixed things about Rayno, with some installers raving about it and others disparaging it. Makes it difficult for the consumer to know the truth, given vested interests exist. 3) Is Ultragard a Australian exclusive product? The IP seems to be owned by GTS FILMS PTY LTD. How's the quality as it seems to have limited installers. 4) Is the MEP Films CNP that apparently are Manufactured by LLumar of the same quality as the LLumar tints (such as Llumar Formula One Stratos; Llumar Formula One Pinnacle; Llumar CTX)? 5)

      Cracked glass

      The crack indicates thermal stress, however, the edge of the glass may have an imperfection (bur or clam shell chip). The crack does run 90 degrees out from the edge and curves as it follows any weaknesses in the pane itself. I have attached a pictured of what tempered glass looks like when it breaks and alongside it what a plate (or float) and heat-strengthened glass looks like when it breaks. The outer panel my be tempered should indicate so by a stamp etched on the glass surface in one corner. It should indicate tempered. Plate glass has no indicators, however, heat-strengthened glass will crack in the same manner as plate glass. I'm an unsure whether heat-strengthened glass requires a stamp. Tempered glass is 4 times stronger than plate and heat-strengthened is 2 times stronger than plate. 1 in 24 is indicative of edge imperfection. I could not find the solar absorption rate of DN 50, but if it is similar to competitive films, there should be no issue with that installation setting (including a straight line shadow). This, too, points back to edge imperfection as the cause. And finally, I spy drapes in a close position, correct? If so, it would be helpful to crack open during sun exposure; this to assist in allowing trapped heat between the glass and drapes to dissipate.

      Cracked glass

      Hello. I recently installed Johnson Daylight Natural DN 50 on a couple of windows. Solar energy rejection is 39%. The windows are double pane and the glass is supposed to be tempered 4mm + tempered 6mm. The roof overhang shades the top 1/3 - 1/2 of the windows. However, a few days after installation I noticed that one of the glass has cracked, presumably due to thermal stress. Should I remove the film from the rest of the windows? I installed the film on 24 of these windows (6 tiny houses) so now 1 out of 24 is broken. Or is it more likely that I just got unlucky and the glass had a defect? Is shading from the roof overhang such a big factor? The glass cracked. Is it really tempered? I thought tempered glass would shatter, but not crack. Thanks!

      Take a look at 3M's Nightvision or LLumar's Dual Reflective series, they both have a warm tone to them.

      Steer clear of Black Armour, Suntek, ASWF. The others are good choices if you are in Australia. Check out the reviews of the installer too. It’s not just the materials that have to be proper. Never go for the cheapest!!!

      Residential Film without blue hue?

      Hey guys I am in the process of having window film installed in my home but have a question about which brand I should go with. Hoping yall can help me out. I have a room that faces a busy street and as a result my blinds pretty much always stay closed. I love having natural daylight but not so much people being able to see what i'm doing in my room/all my expensive equipment. I used to work in the window film industry as a helper/installer/salesman when I was in highschool and we did a lot residential/commercial work. The specific brand of film we used always left a certain blue and cool appearance. Is there any brand of residential film that does not have this effect? I mainly just cannot stand having blue light amplified and am looking for a film that has a neutral shade to it or even a warm/yellow hue. I have single pane windows and I do not necessarily care about heat rejection but if I have to pay more for a ceramic film rather than a dual reflective or a standard film I am willing to if that helps solve the issue. Again, any help is really appreciated with this there are so many new window film brands out there and it really is cool to see how far the industry has come.

      Automotive Tint Comparison

      LLumar, 3M and Solargard have in the industry as far back as the genesis of window film mid-1960's). Solargard is the younger of the three and all others came to play in the last 20 or so years. I've had all three on my vehicles over the years and my current is 3M Crystalline on my Jeep since 2015. It still has stable color, scratch coat is holding strong and impeccable adhesive clarity. Never been garaged. My choice toady would be 3M or LLumar.
