Tips for commercial doors with push handles?

Recommended Posts

So, what do you all do when you can not remove the push bar and not cut it on the outside ............ ?

Exact cut the side to side measurement off you film handler.

What if you do not have a film handler.

Find a nearby window that you have not yet tinted.

Put an oversized piece of film on the window,& cut the piece to fit with a straight edge.

If you don't have a straight edge, use the side of the larger window as your guide. :yep

Interesting idea, I started a thread on this subject awhile back, it has been moved to the subscriber section with pics, the title is " Tinting doors with a push bar ".

I remember that thread. :thumb

I take them all off if possible, but if not, dont keep the reverse roll tight, and position the start of the film through the bar from the bottom, then pull the film up. The roll will unwind against the bar, but you will HAVE to respray where the roll is when you get the top of the film in position.

Never had a problem removing the mechanical bars. Pull the caps, remove the two bolts on one side, loosen on the other side (sometimes bolt/screw needs to be completely removed), and slide it off the door. Pretty easy.

If you're unable to take the handle apart what I've done is Pre-cut the door on the outside, backroll it, then when you're ready to install start your backroll from under the handle and gradually bring it up.

If you can backroll it tight enough you can start from the top of the door but I've preferred going from under the handle.
