One way mirror ???

Recommended Posts

Increasing the lighting level with directional lighting or otherwise on the 'inmate' side would definitely improve the 1 way effect. Increasing the lighting in any way on the 'officer' side would decrease the 1 way effect markedly , but would also increase interior reflectivity making it harder for officers to see the inmates....not a good idea.

Perforated vinyl on inmate side also works very well for 1 way vision irrespective of lighting, you can even get some bars or razor wire images printed on it so it blends in with the theme hehe, but It would be subject to inmate abuse.

put lights around the window on the mirror side....anything you can do to light up the people on the mirror side will increase what reflection they see.  Pointing at the window will not necessarily help...unless you get the lights reflecting in the eyes of them...

Depending on lighting I would go with a silver 15 or 20 on inmate side and auto 5% on officer side.

You don't think the inmates would think about ripping it off, even just for the fun of it?

Also, please check three times it's glass..... I just find it hard to believe that a prison has glass anywhere, even on an officers eyes, and I've been to a few without ever seeing glass..... Ever!

Great idea about the lights shining on the reflective film from public side, great idea! Also, keep 2 lists of your tools, check each twice. You leave something behind you will have a slight chance of being on the "public" side.

And definitely do as daz said, charge hourly.... Think in some places you can earn upto 50c an hour! :D

Lights pointed AT the glass will not make the faces and other images on the "mirror" side brighter.  It will also have some light pass through the film and glass to be lighting up the side that you don't want them to see!  You want the people and objects to be very bright so that they will see nothing but that in the mirror...

Light up the room not accent the window.  Lighting up the window will also draw attention to that glass could make the people be more observant of it thus they would be looking at it and then notice that it is not just a mirror in the first place!

Our Delta 05% works well for this application.  We get a lot of orders from prisons, law enforcement and security firms for this type of application.

I've had pretty good success with the Delta Dual 05%, though still need it a bit brighter on the side you don't want people looking in from.

Ahh, I see. Yes your right. Good to know, as I think the lighting idea is a great tip. Thanks mate
