Home renovating.

Recommended Posts

I promise myself here and now via the internet to say I'll never go that road again.

This is my 4th time and I'm 7 weeks into a full makeover front to back, top to bottom that will take 3 months and all whilst we are still living here.

I'm sick of the dust, the endless stream of tradies coming in and a less than happy wife.

Anyone else concur?

Devil, I have been married 15 years, we have built 6 houses and moved 12x or more. ( into rentals as the house was being built ) Our current home was 85% done the day we moved in. And the last 15% was a total PITA to deal with. Living in a construction site does not usually make for a happy wife.

You bet on that one Tom.

What really gets up my goat is that the builder and his hit men just tear into a room before you get a chance to really cover up everything.

One of the brickies was cutting outside and he literally disappeared in dust.

I've never seen anything like it and with no windows in place only the frames...well say no more.

Our very first home was a complete and total rehab. To the point where I had to jack the house up and put a foundation under it. Then rebuild everything above it. We were much you get and more tolerant with inconvience back then. I would not want yo do it today. I don't like dust in my cereal bowl

And we've found that the original owner had that blow in insulation installed and once we pulled down the ceiling, the tish went everywhere.
Only saving grace was that it wasn't that itchy fibreglass crap. :scared

Fortunately our Autumn has been fantastic weather and they works have not been held up due to rain.

I know this is a tinting forum, but I will see if I can find some old pics of the rehabs and past builds.

You're a madman to have taken on that many. I'm guessing the first was the most brutal? That's how it was for me. You wouldn't believe it if I told you...

Can't wait to see.
