DynamicATL got a reaction from doctor4766 in Advice - is this tinting job acceptable?
I would contact the mobile tinter to get it redone or removed/refunded if they don't feel they can do any better. Can a mobile job come out clean? Yes, especially if they are covered like in a garage. Is there a higher risk that a mobile job won't come out clean? Yes, you are just exposed to many more elements that cause debris in the film. Skill can only take you so far in a poor installation environment. It really comes down to pure luck if the mobile job will be clean or not.

Not sure what is up with the Plexus shortage but the one below is another option.

DynamicATL got a reaction from Tintguy1980 in Clarity of Ceramic under Foggy Overcast Rainy Conditions
If it's been installed for some time, then most likely, the issue is your eyesight, especially if you're over 40. Your close vision is the most affected (hence people needing readers), but also with glare, etc. So you still could have great vision in ideal circumstances (doctor's office) but not in more severe driving conditions. If you recently added the tint, the reduction of visibility might be the issue. Even though 70% is pretty clear, you are still losing an additional 30% of visibility.

I wear contacts, my fiancee wears glasses but she has overall better vision than me. She only does 90% on the windshield since she felt 70% impacted her night driving way too much. I do 35-40% on the windshield and have perfect clarity even at night. Unless it is pouring down, I typically do not use my wipers.

One thing that will help you is adding Yellow LEDs to your fog lamps. Yellow cuts through the rain and fog better than any whiter light. Below is our shop vehicle with only fog lights on.

If you don't have a plotter use a wax pencil and cut on a peel board.

DynamicATL reacted to Tintguy1980 in Help me tint my living room windows
I have a living room with windows on the east and south and knowing what I know about the effectiveness of even the darkest film, which comes with hazards of thermo stress on the dual pane glass ... I set the TV in the corner between the two windows. Viewing the TV and the windows in the same field of vision. There will always be a reflection of the windows on the TV, just muted. Curtains are the best solution for this issue.

Agree. Looks like a combination of pits in the exterior of the glass, hard water spots and car wax dryed in the pits.

Marks in the glass become more appearant after tinting because the film adds contrast and makes the exterior surface easier to observe.

take your fingernail and rub it back and forth across that area on the outside. if you feel something then its on the outside. pics can be deceiving but that looks to be on the outside of the glass.

The spots I marked with the red arrows and the others that look like that are water bubbles that could take up to 1 month to dry, depending on the film/location. The rest of the stuff looks like the window is dirty on the outside and needs to be wiped off.

Ok, after reading a bit more thinking of going with the V-Kool V10, which doesn't have a green tint like the other V-Kool ones. Ironically it's also the most expensive one.

Some info I found here https://v-koolthailand.com/film/royal-privacy-package-vk10/ but also based on local forums.

This video has ceramic on the left and vk10 on the right

Apparently biggest downside is some weaker GPS signal in tunnels or under highways, and it can block some tollway fast pass payment stuff, but for that you can add a small hole. I'm not using that so should be ok.

It seems V-Kool is now mainly used in Asian and very hot countries like UAE. Also lots of supercars seem to use it.

Thank you about the hint about the brownish tint on 3M Crystalline, that influenced my decision!

No, 2023 is the new model. Type R has a big wing but not blocking the glass.

As soon as I read Ford F350, I knew it was the rear view mirror. We broke one a few years ago. Even with the removal tool, it is a PITA. Now we do not remove any Ford rear view mirrors. Just slit the film to go around the base and seem them together on top.

Just depends if you want a lower cost with a less known brand or pay more for a brand that is more widely known by consumers. Both films come from the same manufacturer. Quality is not an issue either way.
