Dano got a reaction from Tintguy1980 in Advice - is this tinting job acceptable?
Unfortunately, I would take it to a regular shop. Maybe they will have mercy and win a customer for life if they can get it right.

Check the reviews and go look at their work on site around mid day. They should have a few fresh installs out in the lot.

If you have questions about their products post em up before you go for the installation. Someone here will try to help out I'm sure.

I've not had that issue. Are you pulling the sweep out?

If not maybe round the corner a little more, put a bit more pressure on a blue conqueror and leave a triangle in there with a paper towel to soak up moisture. I usually do the doors first and leave the door locks rolled until I finish the rest of the job.

That's my best guesses and remedies.

Depends on the film. Global is about the hardest. I punish that film regularly with no issues. Expel comes in a close second.

Never liked using Suntek and the bottom end Llumar products that gets used on fleet preloads.

Thanks for your advice everyone. The tint guy ended up coming back and admitted it should not be contaminated like that and redid the job. I'll post some photos shortly but I can clearly see some specks on each window.

Would appreciate your views on the 2nd time job and if getting it done at a shop somewhere else would yield better results or if this is as good as it gets.

Best time for outdoor mobile tinting is right after the sun comes up, no wind. and a heavy dew (or rain) covering everything.

We used to use it on the film once we completed a job. It gives it an extremely smooth feel when you glide your hand across it. So would help with friction. You just wipe it on like a glass cleaner.

Roll down the window and spray the gasket. Just using it to reduce friction, not polish.

Unfortunately mobile work is very difficult to get correct, as previously stated, and most guys offering mobile services are otherwise unemployable, like the clown that keeps showing up in this thread.

Put some soap on the back of the dozer, push down on the light/deck and try to exit the side instead of coming back up.

Or use some slip tape instead of soap if you have it.

Reach tool or a Titan might be helpful also.

Forgot how much of a pain in the ass the rear window is on the Chrysler PT Cruiser.  First attempt success with Xpel 15% XR ceramic.  Forgot to take some pics after install.

Adding the Global 70% ceramic to a factory 20% tinted glass would be RATHER beneficial as far as heat rejection, without making it any darker.  The 70% ceramic from Global performs amazingly, granted the color could be a little better, but I will overlook that part for the amount of IR and heat rejection you get out of such a clear-ish film.  I recommend this shade all the time to my senior customers who don't want to go any darker but complain about the heat.

Whoops, forgot one thing maybe two.

They are also using lowE technology in auto glass; from what I saw when seeking the other info, it is being used in sunroof and panorama roofs. If it is a single sheet and not laminated, any film applied to the actual lowE coating negates the lowE properties (which is the same for architectural glass (single pane lowE glass).

Also, I mentioned the EDTM meter and I must admit I am unsure whether the ID is 2250 or 2450. I know it was pricey back in 2014, but it was found to be as accurate (-/+ 2-3%) as the photospectrometers mannies use that cost 100K or above.

Could be worse. Here is the look my 2015 Jeep Cherokee has when under the worst kind of lighting; mist rain days. The front door has 3M Crystalline 40 (8 yrs old) at this point.

You can clearly see the mismatch between that film and the privacy glass that has no added film. From the inside looking out, the front doors closely match the privacy color, just lighter.

Before the question is asked, that privacy glass is about 20% visible light transmission, 60-65% total solar energy rejection and 95-99% UV reduction. The fronts were 70% VLT light factory tint (green glass) before adding Crystalline 40.

Original windows with the rear ‘privacy’ glass. Rear is definitely darker than the front and came with some level of tint in the back. In the specs it is privacy glass as mentioned, but maybe it’s different to what you guys have.

Yes it it different.  The only vehicle that I know of that comes with a 30% factory glass is Toyota Tacoma and 4Runner. I have yet to see a Hyundai or Kia with anything other than a 20% factory glass.  Just like all the other mannies, their factory glass is somewhere around a 20%.  The fact you said your factory rear glass was a 30% is odd to me.  Just sayin...

Also - IF? your rear glass is a factory 30% and you put 40% on the front two doors, at this point you are only about 5 maybe 7 percentage points different.  Factory clear glass with Global 40% on it usually meters at around 32% and that 70% ceramic added to the rear if it is 30% would only change take that down to about 22-25%.  If all of this is correct this is what your pictures look like to me.  The color or hue problem is due the factory glass color.  There in not one single film out there that matches factory glass color perfectly when added to the factory "green glass" on the front two doors. The factory rear glass is always a little different in color or hue.

another thing is that all factory "green glass" on the front two doors is a different color or hue from manny to manny. Hell, Toyota 4Runner factory front doors are almost yellow or khaki compared to everyone else. And all of them meter a little different.  Usually around a 72% but that can vary a bunch of points either way depending on manufacturer.  I currently have a Toyota Highlander in the bay that meters 19% rear factory and 64% front "clear" "green glass"

That’s interesting. I assume privacy glass is also different in different countries depending on regulations etc

Before my car was tinted the rear was definitely visually darker than the front. It measured as darker too with the vlt meter. I think it measured at around 30/40 something (I remember the shop saying it was lighter than usual which is 20-25 maybe?) and the front was 70/80.

The legal limit here is 35 front, 20 rear. It used to be 35 all round. That’s why we put 40 on the front and 70 on the rear.
We also are not allowed to tint the front windshield.

I can be an adult behind the wheel of any car. Almost any car…. Alright so don’t give me the keys to a fox body mustang. Lamborghini/rolls or something you’re really worried about me breaking something on we’re golden. Old square 5.0 with a stick? I might steal it and make a run for it. I’m not sure if I’m serious or not either lol!

    Supercharged!
Full bumper, 18" Hood/Fenders, Ceramic front doors.

This one already had a little road rash from the summer season but otherwise pretty minty.

It's funny how the guys that daily drive these give you the smile when they hand you the red key
The reality is that I try to move the hot rods around as little as possible. Always fun to hear 'em roar when they fire up though

We all have out nitch I suppose. Restyling has always been mine. I like cars, I like art, I like efficiency and I gotta do something, so I guess I'm pretty fortunate to find an industry spot that does all three.
