using glue also makes these brown/orangish/rust colored places in the matrix area. (lets not turn this into a glue/vinyl debate please)

take it to someone who vinyls the matrix and let them cut the tint off and put vinyl on it. looks better anyway. IMFO

is that from sanding the matrix?  maybe some of that material is partially metal on certain vehicles?

TTS quote:

:lol

Although Cerdec (one of many companies that do the matrix coating) was most helpful with information concerning the matrix material, but they stopped short of admitting metal in the composition.

It is believed to be iron (or iron oxide) rusting from exposure to the water (chemicals and surface scuffing) used during prep and install.

There is no way of identifying this characteristic before tint is applied. Minimizing the amount of moisture left behind after tinting the matrix area will help in avoiding rust. However, this doesn't seem to occur with vinyl, leading to the asumption that maybe it's cause the black nature of vinyl gets the glass hotter, drying the water quicker. Purely speculative I might add...

I know this to reoccurr after R & R. :poop

No :p1ss ing match for metint4u2 :hmmm:lol

plus it adds $$$ to the final bill. if you charge extra for it that is. I charge $35 for it, and had no complaints about paying the extra yet.
