Long stressful week

Monday morning as we were walking out the door to go to work. My wife heard a bang on the other side of the door. When she opened it, my 10 year old Weim was on the floor having a stroke. He was in full seizure and violently shaking. I picked him up and rushed him to the vet where they stabilized him so he could be transported to a better equipped facility. When we left him there I really did not think he would be coming home. He stayed in the ICU for 3 days and showed slow but noticeable improvement every 8 hours or so. Yesterday morning he was able to push himself up into a sitting position and tried like crazy to stand but could not. Last night he managed to be able to stand on his own and today the vet said he could come home. He is still very very unstable on his feet and needs someone to hold a harness on his back to assist him to walk, but the vet elects him to regain his motor skills over the next few weeks. .. I see a lot of dog sitting in my near future.

Sorry to hear this news. Very painful to watch the one friend (no matter what) is always glad to see you go through this.

I hope he pulls through, and has a full recovery.

Thanks all. He is making small improvements each day. But still only has about 15% of his strength and coordination in his rear legs. He is about 50% in the front.
