Door Edge

Has anyone had problems with door edge, specifically RAV4?

 

The inside edge is taking off. 

 

I've installed several measures and continue to take off.

 

I Do a dry installation.

 

It may seem funny, but is giving me a headache

It's taking off the OEM paint? Are you using a adhesive promoter?

Maybe it is not sticking to the inside edge???

You can use iso propyl alcohol to clean, maybe even a very light rub with fine 1200 grit wet and dry and use an adhesive promoter as Alberts suggested.

A hit with the heat gun to finish and you should be sweet.

Not taking the paint, taking off just as if the surface was dirty.

 

It is thoroughly cleaned with isopropyl alcohol.

Door edges install dry not wet.  Just my 2 pennies...

Neaver had that prob. Heat torach then stick edge on?

I would always do a door edge dry as well, come to think of it pretty much anything 10-15 mm or narrower i would install dry.

You can get wider door edge material also... Give it more to grab with on the inside edge.

The only time I have had issues with door edges not sticking is when you stretch it going down. Make sure its long enough so that you aren't stretching much from top to bottom. The problem is the inside of the door has a weld line which lets air flow through it and will cause it to lift up if there is tension on the film.
