How long does it take you, really?

Recommended Posts

3-4 Cars a day is about where I'm at.

I very rearly get customers unhappy with my quality, so I guess I am about right.

As Dev said, there are other interuptions during the day... Between running a tint shop, being a trade rep for GTS and managing the ITN, I get pretty busy.. I usually deal with about 20-50 phone calls per day, plus 200+ emails per day, and answer what I can with my phone, but I try and do all of the computer stuff and quoting during the night..

Every day is a very long day. I love it..

When I worked for the McTint shops, just applying would take me 30 to 40 min.

That's just tinting. I never had to pull apart put back together, check or take calls or deal with customers.

We had hard templates and a kit would be cut in 5 minutes tops.

Nowadays, totally different story.

3.5 hours average.

I make templates first then cut on my bench.

Pull trims and shelves if need be.

Do the rear first then take outside and check.

Bring back in do the sides then take outside and check.

Heat every wind up at the top bottoms and middles.

Bring back in put back together.

Clean windows inside and out.

Take out a third time and press out the smallest things that didn't show up whilst wet.

Sometimes I think "f##k I'm slow".

Yeah....you are.

And I thought I was pedantic :lol

Yeah yeah. Lol

I gotta come up north and get some some pointers one day :)

A car takes me about 3 hours with all the things that 35 does but add into the mix customers dropping in for quotes, phone call interruptions, writing up records etc..

Devil

Oh yeah..the paperwork. That's a big one.

Thanks all for the replies. Sounds like 1.5-2.5 is about the average for those who aren't in a high-pressure shop, and 3 is a nice and easy pace but not unheard of. This eases my mind, glad I didn't hear a ton of 30-45 minute replies claiming good work. I don't want to aim for that mess.

The administration/interruption really does affect an installers pace. Wish I had someone for that.

Takes as long as it takes. No such thing as average in my shop! [emoji6]

But if I had to pick a quantity of time to represent the duration of stay for each car lucky enough to sit in our tint bay, I'd say about 2-3hrs...

and I bet there are no come backs.

No, there definitely are come backs...

They come back with their second car, then their third car, then their mates cars....

Well, you get the idea. [emoji106]
