How long does it take you, really?

For me I would say 1.75 to 2.5 hours on a 4 dr car. Vehicles that are easy or I'm very familiar with I do much faster obviously then the difficult and unfamiliar ones. I think most experienced installers can do most cars in an hour if we really wanted to and quality wasn't much of a concern. But with most tint duders here you'll find take pride in their work and will not cut corners.

I've tried double cutting to improve my speed but for me it didn't really speed up the process. The only thing I feel that I can do to improve my speed further is to cut back on the prep work. I'm not willing to do that so I'm happy where I'm at with my speed.

I think I could do any car in an hour if I wasn't worried about quality of the work!!!

Start to finish solo hand cutting takes me about 1.5 to 2 hours.

start to finish using a plotter takes about 1.25 hours.

start to finish with someone running the plotter for me take 45 minutes to 1 hour.

I am also a super picky panel pulling tinter, I honestly believe the guys doing cars in 30 minutes or less are either completely full of chit or sloppy corner cutters.

Good point about the shops feel and purpose.

I used to do cars in 45 mins max..... Because I had to, just one after tho other with cars waiting out front, (contract dealer work)

They came out good, don't get me wrong, dealer cars and they had to be.)

Now, I take about 2 1/2 hours. I think that's the right time, I take trims off, brake lights come off etc. and gets done right. The hard part is getting into a Rythym without being disrupted. I don't want to do a full sedan under 2 hours, but don't want to go over 3. If it's been 3 hours I do start to stress and start thinking I gotta get this car outta here.

I honestly was one of those guys who came here saying I can do a thousand cars a day..... Now I :facepalm that shit

Quality was fine, and definitely none of that shit where you can see the films edge on the bottom, but that was not a way to live..... I was just as much a robot as the car I was tinting and stoppe caring about trying to do the best possible job.

When I worked for the McTint shops, just applying would take me 30 to 40 min.

That's just tinting. I never had to pull apart put back together, check or take calls or deal with customers.

We had hard templates and a kit would be cut in 5 minutes tops.

Nowadays, totally different story.

3.5 hours average.

I make templates first then cut on my bench.

Pull trims and shelves if need be.

Do the rear first then take outside and check.

Bring back in do the sides then take outside and check.

Heat every wind up at the top bottoms and middles.

Bring back in put back together.

Clean windows inside and out.

Take out a third time and press out the smallest things that didn't show up whilst wet.

Sometimes I think "f##k I'm slow".
